Hi everyone !

I've just published my third campaign a few days ago. The first two have been widely downloaded with plenty positive feedback.

Here the links :

I have no shortage of ideas or motivation, but before I start imagining a new one, I would like to have your opinion.

So what would you like next ?

I would be grateful to anyone who takes the time to answer.

The survey being limited to 3 questions, feel free to add on this thread anything you think is useful :

- Nb of my previous campaigns downloaded / started / completed

- Possible historical context +/- compliant with the Mirage 2000C

- Perceived difficulty level of the previous ones / expected for the next

- The ideal length for a mission (1h ? less ? more ?) ?

...

There three salient points, asisde from Falklands. Disputes, which had been settled but not really. Both involve Chile and Argentina.

Control of Strait Of Magellan

Control of Beagle Chanell

Control of Drake Passage which is international waters, but with parts of Antarctica claimed by Argentina, the Drake Passage straddles that claim.

Until 1984 agreement, there was real chance of war over Beagle Chanell between Argentina and Chile.

Thanks DmitriKozlowsky !

Your suggestions are really interesting. I keep that in mind ...

South Atlantic Mirage needs anti-ship missiles. M2KC can't , in DCS, carry any DCS anti-ship missiles, so a 2000-5 hack is needed to carry ASM. Otherwise Tierra Del Fuego, Strait Of Magellan, and Beagle Chanell are fjords suitable for Viggens, F-16's, and F-15E carrying Harpoons, AGM-65G, and Swedish R missiles.

I tried all sorts of tricks, experimenting in and around Beagle Chanell and Magellan Strait fjords. Sneaking up at 100 feet at 500 knots with balut bombs . Attacking around a corner of island. Attacking over a ridge, using fjords as terrain mask approach.  Max range SNEB attacks. Pop up Beluga CBU lob. Even AAA equipped average skill naval surface units , in DCS, score IR and AAA hits on  Mirage. The Mirage has to be within visible range LOS of target, to deploy AG weapons available to it in DCS, which makes it volunerable. One tactic that I am unable to setup is get infantry JTAC to lase a naval unit for high altitude LGB bomb engagement. They lase ground targets , but wont lase naval units. Maybe I am missing something.

From Wikipedia. Which as we all know is 100% correct 100% of the time.

Air-to-surface missiles:

2× AM.39 Exocet (Mirage 2000 EG, Mirage 2000-5 Mk2)

1× SCALP EG (Mirage 2000 D, Mirage 2000-5)[151][152]

Crystal Maze[153]

Crystal Maze II[154]

I confirm. Some export versions can carry Exocet (RDM or -5) but there is no Exocet or -5 in DCS and it is not planned.  So that ends this option.

Nevertheless, there are some alternatives, as you mentioned :

During the Falkland war, Daggers and A-4s used unguided bombs against UK warships with variable results ... but sometimes impressive.

And as I explained in my last campaign (see Mission 6) :

In 80s, the CBU-99 / Mk 20 Rockeye (cluster bomb like the BLG-66) was a standard weapon for US Navy A-6, A-7 and F-18 conducting "Surface CAP". In the mid-80s, US Navy used it efficiently against several Lybian warships in the the Gulf of Syrte.

Concerning the danger of the warships AAA weaponry, it's a matter of tactics of course but also a matter of fine tuning in the mission editor if needed.

By the way, all options are still opened but according to the survey, Syria & Kola maps come first. And as my 2nd campaign is on the Syria map, Kola could be a good chose.

Note that Kola is also a good place for antiships scenario ... 🙂

I remember playing your campaigns as soon as they came out. I can't recall any particulars but especially the second one made me very happy
Great balance of length, difficulty, technical skills required (using the then newly introduced ground radar to stay low in a night/dawn mission, wasn't it in that campaign?). Nice story too. You have a talent for bringing these all together man.

Now, I've been away from the game for some time due to commitments but I plan coming back (hoping that the bird is still going to be flyable in the near future), and I have already gotten the Kola map although I haven't had the chance to fly in it yet. I for one would like to play a mirage campaign in that map in the 80s.

And if you are happy, I'm happy too 🙂 !

Thanks for your comments. These campaigns are hard work and it's important to have feedbacks.

Life is full of events, sometime difficult to manage but I hope you can come back soon !
