SimHaptic from rkApps now supports DCS! And I am very impressed. I have a Buttkicker Gamer Pro bass shaker, which comes with an amplifier which also works as an external soundcard when connected to the PC with USB. And until now I have only been using Buttkickers own official Hapticonnect app - which supports DCS. But I think it is not very good. Few effects, and some of them are not even working. And you really can't adjust anything besides volume. So I have been looking for a different solution.

I know some of you are using the Simshaker software and been happy with that. I downloaded that program, but I never got it to work like it should. Turned out I had to buy an extra plugin from another company which there were no available valid payment options for when I checked it out. This might be solved now, I don't know. Anyway, I decided to just stay with the official Hapticonnect for Buttkicker instead. It worked, but very limited.

Anyway, Simhaptic has a trial version on their web page, I think it is fully functional except that it stops working after 7 days. And I am happy to say it worked "right out of the box"... Very easy. Downloaded it, installed it, started it, in the SimHaptic app chose my Buttkicker as the sound card to use, fired up DCS, hopped into my F-16 cockpit - and voila!

I had to lower the volume for many of the effects, and I guess this will depend upon which kind of bass shaker or buttkicker you are using. But - there are so many different effects for each thing happening with the airplane! Compared to the official Buttkicker software it is pretty incredible! Wow! I can not compare it to the Simshaker solution since I never got it to work and never bought the addon plugin for it either. But is a very easy solution and installation for Buttkicker Gamer Pro/Buttkicker Game Plus users. For people with other bass shakers, SimHaptic needs a soundcard for itself, an external USB one would work fine I think. You can not use an Y splitter from the soundcard you are using for other things.

I just saw their Youtube announcement and came here to search if anybody had tried it.  Sounds encouraging.  I've been using Simshaker with the plugin and its ok but I've never loved it.

Started trial today and I'm loving it.  And the bonus is it works with 3rd party mods with no workarounds, add-ons , or LUA editing.  Just ran it with the OH-6 mod and worked great.

There is a conflict between simhaptic and viacom.

From developer forum. There should be a fix in next update.

In the meantime, to get viacom work again.. just remove a line - simhaptic from export.lua

I just had a chat with the developer about this and he said that a fix will be released by tomorrow.

If you are using Simshaker with Andres sound module currently it seems it will also break if you run Simhaptic.  I just repaired the export LUA from the Simshaker app to go back to Simshaker and it was fine.  Next time I ran Simhaptic it fixed itself and worked but it broke Simshaker again. Same steps to fix. So at some point you have to decide which you love best. I'm pretty close to making the move to SimHaptic.

Ok, I might need change the mount for the bass shaker, but so far I‘m not impressed. The lowpass filter doesn’t seem to work at all. (though I will test again with a different speaker mount). I can hear the effects as much as I can feel them. Never had that problem with Simshaker.

Another thing I didn’t like, which probably can’t be fixed with mounting the speaker differently, the gun effect has a noticeable delay between pulling the trigger and feeling the vibration. The lag is probably on all effects but particular noticeable with guns…..

I will certainly test back to back against simshaker, before I consider buying it.

For me, by far away the pros simhaptic is its stability. I had a lot of issue with simshaker like license reset/database error.

Since I switch to simhaptic in civilian sim, I never once that experienced any issue.

So far in DCS, since it release yesterday... the effect in simhaptic is more differentiated and more pronounced, .. I can feel the gun fire, speedbrake, ground effect.

Hopefully the viacom is get sorted...I switch permanently to simhaptic.

Peedee, I totally agree with you. What a transformation using the Buttkicker. I spent a few hours today in the Gazzelle,F86 and Spitfire. It works so well in DCS. It so "adjustable" and easy to tune on the fly with so many variables. Up there with Voice Attack, I think this is one of the best pieces of software I bought .  Also, it starts automatically with DCS and no log in required....My "Other" Haptic software was a waste of money and has been Un-installed !

BTW, For VR Guys, this just adds another dimension. I have my Buttkicker for about six months but didn't use it because of the software. This just got my Buttkicker fired up again.

I do like it but after several hours with it I have discovered some issues especially with Helos. There are frequent times where an effect cancels out all the other effects. For example the engine vibrations or blade slap stops when you fire a rocket.  The blade slap on helos is also very inconsistent even when flying straight and steady.

On some jets I have a hard time feeling landing gear up/down even when at 100%.

Sometimes engine vibration goes completely away or gets very soft then suddenly its strong again for no apparent reason or input.

I've posted some of these concerns in the devs forum which isn't really much of a forum. I encouraged them to join this discussion as I haven't seen any developer presence here that I can find. Hopefully they will join in.

Lots of great pieces to this and I hope they fine tune it now that they are supporting DCS.

Good to hear! I have only tested it with the F-16C, so... think I have to try with the spitfire too. 🙂  I have many modules, but I really only fly the F-16 🙂

Ok, I have only tested with the F-16 module. I guess that if you come from an advanced app like the Simshaker then it's easier to find faults in SimHaptic. I have never experienced Simhaker with its addon for DCS, so I can not make that comparison. But coming from the official Buttkicker software, this new SimHaptic software is huge improvement 🙂

Hopefully they'll continue to improve SimHaptic. The DCS support just came a few days ago, and Simshakers with addon has been out for quite a while 🙂

I have a BK Pro with the HaptiConnect software and it works well in DCS but I want to give SimHaptic a shot. I've downloaded it and have the DCS folder copied but need an assist where to install it. The instructions in the video and manual are for X-Plane not DCS and say to drop it into the installation/resources/plugin folder but I can't find this in my DCS folder - can someone point me in the right direction?

Cobra, its in your users/saved games folder. I copied the DCS lua from the unzipped to my DCS Scripts Folder. Then it worked fine. Hope that helps mate.

Great, thanks! Yes, after adding the folder to the DCS Scripts folder, it fired right up. One quick free flight on the default Hornet settings and can already tell there’s more feedback than the Hapti software. Anxious to mess with it more and dial in the settings. Thanks again!

I'm curious about these instructions?  I didn't have to copy any folder or file over anywhere for it to work for me.  I just ran the installation file and it fired up and worked once I chose DCS in the settings?  Are you saying you copied the Simhaptic.lua file from the plugins/DCS folder over to the Saved Games/DCS/scripts folder?  The manual is outdated and so is their YouTube installation video but it sounded like those instructions only applied to X Plane.

Once I ran install the only file in the DCS/Scripts folder was the export.lua and it had been updated with a line for Simhaptics.

Did anybody else have to do this manual copy over to make it work?

I had a chat with the developers on their Facebook page and they confirmed for DCS you only need to run the installation file. No need to copy any folders or files into the scripts folder.

Also tried to get them into this forum for feedback. They say they have tried but not been able to setup an account because they are not receiving the confirmation email? I tried to setup a new account myself to test and same thing. The confirmation email never comes to give full access. @BIGNEWY is there anyone that can look into this issue?
