F4 has disappeared !!

Hi, I've just logged on to DCS and to my surprise it says the F4 is not authorised, and will be dis-abled. It's completely disappeared.

I wonder has anyone else had this happen?

It is likely that your anti virus has interfered with DCS, which is why you get this error. 

Check your anti virus logs. Make sure it didnt remove or quarantined any DCS related files. If it did, restore the file, create an exception for DCS and also best idea is to run a repair and that should sort it.

@Christopher Staples I experience the same error message.  When I used the DCS repair tool, it did not resolve the issue.  I still got the same error message.  Other fixed and rotary modules work properly.

Yes , I ran cleanup and repair ,also told my antivirus to make an exception of DCS . I ran the game, but it started in the map view and I could not fly from the cockpit.

I tried pressing F1, to no avail. So I un-installed it re-started the game ,re-installed it only to get the same dis-abled message .So I'm back to square one. All my other aircraft are working fine, it's just the F4, but looking at some of the replies I'm not alone. It's very puzzling .

check this step again, as many people confuse the Antivirus with the Firewall settings.

Yes ,both are set to allow DCS . Good advice though. What I don't understand Is that, its been working fine for weeks ,why now?

This is crazy how the F-4 works on day and not today. I hade a message during start up DCS say F-4 is not available

As pointed out, this is usually due to Windows Defender and similiar AV software detecting false positives. Some other aircraft in DCS are also affected.

It started to happen on the recent Windows Update.

ED, we and other thirdparties already contacted them for whitelisting. These things happen every couple of years unfortunately

I got trojan.MBT
 

Even though I exclude antivirus, I still have the problem. The trojan virus escapes the exclusion folder and infects other files.

Could you elaborate? I feel like you are misinterpreting what is happening. Unless you caught a virus from elsewhere, there is no malware whatsoever in your DCS files.

Possibly you also did not set the exclusion rules correctly, in which case it would be helpful if you can share some screenshots or similar of what you have configured. Cheers

Right, that is your AV program detecting a false positive. The file is clean, it is not infected. As hinted earlier in this thread, put your DCS path as exclusion to your AV program and then run a DCS repair, it should work again then.

If you need help with that process, please share some screenshots and similar. Cheers

Well I don't know what to do now. I set my antivirus up to exclude DCS , I've done several cleanup and repairs, deleted missions I made for theF4.

I uninstalled and re-installed the F4 ,which seemed to work but I could not get to the cockpit,(it was the map view only). Then when I re-started DCS ,the message saying the F4 was disabled appeared again. I'm at a total loss.

Can you share some screenshots of what you have set and where? In terms of AV exclusion. Perhaps you have missed something on that front. So far it seemed to have worked for everyone.

The files it likes to delete are in the Mod not CoreMods folder of the F4.
Also, unless you have Windows Defender disabled, you have to tell it the same.

You could probably also add the entire DCS path to it, if you feel like it.
