Just to be clear if it wasn't enough in my message, I'm not pointing finger specifically at ED. What they're doing isn't really different from the many other game devs I haven't been able to get through to. 

You should consider yourselves lucky that you can actually play DCS on non-Meta headsets at all. More and more of the new content from game developers isn't going to be tested on anything other than Quest and given Meta's approach to a locked-down OpenXR ecosystem, this content isn't going to properly work on other headsets.

I'm dipping because I don't have time to deal with folks who aren't interested in being constructive and solving real problems like this one.  (hint: Meta is top of the list)

Now that's a statement.  LoL  OpenXR is only a label then.  Yet another reason to think Meta ain't a great company.

Crystal / 4090 user here. Mbucchia made DCS so good it's all I play. I can't understand how ED has not hired M as a contractor, to fix the bugs and learn how to do what he does. Thanks Mbucchia for your fine work.

Sorry, I am very confused. Allow me to take a step back and ask: is QVF a feature standard to DCS? Cause I cannot find it anywhere. Also there are many OpenXR games out there, which they-shall-not-be-named, never have QVF support in the first place. I use QPro and of cause I am biased. 😛 

I am asking because some here blames ED for this. I wish to be enlightened. In the meantime, I am going to fly more and make some videos.

muchhia has explained this ad nauseum in this thread now.

I will try in my own layman‘s terms:

QVFR is not „native“ to DCS. But it uses OXR and DCS runs on OXR. But DCS does not adhere to certain OXR standards which is why mbucchia implemented a fix (workaround) specific to DCS in his QVFR app.

Since ED now, for no apparent reason, changed the name of „DCS World“ to „DCS“ in OXR, QVFR no longer recognizes, that the workaround needs to be executed.

To again fix this in QVFR, mbucchia would need to sign a new license (or something along the lines) which costs money, takes time and then only fixes something which is a fault on EDs side in the first place….

The OVRPlugin stuff doesn't apply to DCS, but instead the large majority of new Unreal and Unity games. This examples serves to explain the deplorable state of PCVR, where developers only target Quest Link, meanwhile Meta is abandoning PCVR, so this leads to that, aka leading to the unavoidable death of the industry.

Abandoned or escapee? I lived in a neighborhood where bunnies were raised for food, we rescued 3 before moving away. Before we knew what was going on, we returned the first bunny, and she showed up again. The second time, she beat us home. She passed recently after 8 years of a happy life.

@LePaul, in this momment there are two options:

1. Try mbucchias's VRS Foveated Rendering (OpenXR Toolkit Eye Tracking) that works since last update

2. Try the not official and not fix 😉 which re-enables QVFR in DCS but probably breaks any other VR game you have (search in this post).

Great news, @BIGNEWY thanks for the update. And of course thank you to @mbucchia for all the work he's done previously, even though you're understandably stepping away from this kind of open source work I just hope you will occassionally dip in with your helpful contributions. I have used VR with DCS since it was possible to do so, and will never go back to a flat screen.

Can you describe "fix"? Is it going to be the real thing (correct FOV submission) or just reverting the name of the app back to "DCS World"?

@mbucchia, when arrive the long awaited correct FOV submission (Thanks ED), and taking into account that you made a work-around to "bypass" this ED's bug in your QVFR... it will it still work or will it need some adjustment?
