scoperson Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) Hey everyone, I was wondering if DCS:BS supports flying with the mouse much like FSX or BF2. I do have a joystick but I absolutely hate it right now. I don't quite know when i'll be able to get a new one so I was looking to try and fly using a mouse. I've tried setting up the controls for pitch and roll using mouse X and Y axis but when I load up into the game it doesn't work. When I go into calibration I can see the little square moving, but still the bird doesn't pitch or roll. If anyone knows how I can fly with the mouse axis that would be great! Thanks ScopersoN PS. I'm using a microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0 and it is installed properly incase that matters. Edited May 10, 2009 by scoperson
Krippz Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 You're better off with a joystick, don't even bother with a mouse. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
scoperson Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 right Right but in this case I can't get another one til june. Right now I have the logitech 3D PRO and I hate it. Leaving it sitting at rest always turns the aircraft to the right. When i try to turn left it only turns slightly and when i barely turn right it does 15 barrel rolls. It is like this for every game. nothing is flyable with it and I've tried to calibrate it but its just not fun at all. So i feel like i AM better off trying the mouse for the time being. flying with the arrow keys is not very fun either....the mouse would be better IMO. ScopersoN
fedaykin Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I also demand to know how to make it work with a mouse! 1
BaD CrC Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Flying a DCS sim with a mouse? Seriously? Ah, maybe in the game/simplified mode you mean? https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I also demand to know how to make it work with a mouse! Didn't you get it working ok in another thread? I forget the details. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
fedaykin Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Didn't you get it working ok in another thread? I forget the details. Nate No. Read the other thread. Flying a DCS sim with a mouse? Seriously? Ah, maybe in the game/simplified mode you mean? No, in realism mode. The mouse works great in FC2 and FSX. Try it first before asking stupid questions. It makes you look like a dumb joystick elitist. 2
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 No. Read the other thread. Ah I see now, PPJoy was only a workaround. scoperson try using Logitechs clrcalib.exe to clear the calibration of your joystick. Might do the trick. http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/gadgets.htm Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
STP Dragon Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Right now I have the logitech 3D PRO and I hate it. I started with a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and it was working fine! Just check the analog axes in the control options in DCS. Playing with mouse? NO! Blaze Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I'd take the Logitech 3D pro over a mouse any day! I'll say, while it wasn't the most accurate joystick after a while of moderate use, it was still one of the most comfortable to use! i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. fedaykin Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Playing with mouse? NO! Oh YES. **** yes! You won't believe how comfortable and precise it is until you've tried it. Far better and cheaper than any 400 dollar joystick, if you ask me (I'm sure those joysticks are good, but not worth it for me). Mice are only problematic if the game doesn't have proper support for them, which games in this day and age absolutely should have, even DCS sims. Also, thanks for giving me bad rep, guys, just because I don't want to use the type of controller that you use. That is so mature of you! Wouldn't have expected that kind of behavior from supposedly mature people who play complicated flight simulators.
