Mouse_99 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 i was trying to bomb some targets with a Mk-82 laser bomb, but it seems the laser stops right before the bomb hit and there was no explosion. I tried it several times with different missions and still no joy. I tried it with the F-16 and it worked fine, I was searching for this in the forums, but there weren't any specific to laser bombing with the F-18.
razo+r Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Make sure the laser is armed. It goes into standby after each drop. Then, if you select a preset loadout, reselect the GBU-12. They have received new fuzes and apparently, having older preset loadout versions leads to issues. And best of all, upload a short track of your issue so we can see exactly what is going on.
Mouse_99 Posted July 28, 2024 Author Posted July 28, 2024 I did notice the fuse would reset which I then did and I believe another message flashed on the HUD, concerning the code, which made me go over all my settings. This can't be how the real thing works, Once you set all the codes, they should not reset, the fuse should not reset to nothing, as I never got the dud indicator in the HUD. I will try again and maybe get a track file. It's like you have to totally set up each bomb, each time, and to top it off, the laser would stop prematurely. it's just bizarre.
rob10 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 You really need to post a track it at really sounds like you are doing it wrong. If you're getting a CODE error in your HUD that means that the code you set in your targeting pod doesn't match what the bomb has set. LGB's are pretty simple to use and mostly the Hornet will yell at you if you do something wrong so you can fix it. The new fusing options allow you to enter the code once and with a click change it across all bombs of the same type. You SHOULD NOT touch the code in the SMS page (it will automatically show what you entered on the fusing page when you rearmed), but if you do it won't actually effect anything (the code on the bombs will stay the same). Also note that if you go back into the rearming page after you have set things up in the SMS page (even if it's just to add fuel for example) it will rearm the plane and wipe out any settings you've changed in the SMS page. That's the only way I can think of that you could get fuses resetting to nothing. Either that or this was an old mission build before the new fusing was a thing in which case you need to update the weapons either in the mission editor or by re-arming from the rearm/refuel comms option.
MarcT-NL Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 From what I understand: The bombs only see the laser-code that was set while reamring. 1688 if you don't change it. Why we still have the option to change it in mid-flight on the screens, OR why we had the option working fine, while it was not the real thing, we'll never know...
Mouse_99 Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 (edited) I am including a track file, I might be doing it wrong, but I used to get it working. I never got any HUD indication there was anything wrong, like a DUD indicator if the fuse was not set, normally you would get a flashing code indicating mismatched codes, I used the standard 1688, and it seems to work, but it also seems to stop prematurely, and I have done it several time, to insure I wasn't masking the TGP. There was no re-arming used FMU-139 for all bombs. bombtraining in Marianas withF-18c Mk-82LG.trk Edited July 29, 2024 by Mouse_99
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 29, 2024 ED Team Posted July 29, 2024 Hi, are you aware of the fuze setting changes for all aircraft? You can only change fuze and laser codes on the ground, like in real life they are set on the actual weapon in most cases. So in the aircraft you are adjusting the settings to match the weapon. ED Team Solution BIGNEWY Posted July 29, 2024 ED Team Solution Posted July 29, 2024 I have checked with the team, there is an issue with missions with older preset loadouts. Please try again and this time go to the rearm menu and save the loadout, and confirm the fuze settings on the weapons. I will mark this thread reported and hopefully in the future the older presets will be working correctly. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Mouse_99 Posted July 29, 2024 Author Posted July 29, 2024 I did as you suggested and yes, that was the issue, So, I consider this as solved; thanks for the help!
marmeys Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 when you're gonna get the fuses up to code? GBU-12 For example, the fuse delay on the F-18 doesn't work. It does on the A-10C2. The bomb code is only set with the default fuze FMU-139/. and also there are a lot of problems to write a lot.
