Needs a George

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned as a planned feature or if someone else has already put it up (especially in one of the threads with vague titles - I’m not reading those) but the Chinook needs an AI George copilot. Just chop the George code out of the Apache so he’ll fly the heading speed and altitude requested. No reason why I as the aircraft commander should have to fly the dumb part of the mission by hand. I’m the boss. I should be drinking coffee while he does the boring part.

Says Trev, in a thread he created called ‘needs a George’ 😄. -Just tickling, struck me as funny.

Bob is functional in the Chinny, he’s basic but it works ok.

Have you tried Bob?  He does a pretty good job of keeping the aircraft flying.

How is this not front page news? Thanks bud had no idea Bob was there (just like his Top Gun 2 namesake).

That said I'd still like to see a full George-like GUI so that I can set specific alt, IAS and heading or bank angle or turn rate (like auto standard rate turn), which could be separate from the AFCS/ DAFCS autopilot that is actually on the aircraft.

You can command Bob to make adjustments. Once Bob is activated, use your stick and collective to issue commands.

There's no feedback yet, other than the aircraft changing speed or altitude etc

Yeah found that in the other thread. The ability to dial in discreet PID loop set point params is still a front burner need.

BOB is a great addition. If only it could be added to the Huey.

Try sling loading with him. I managed to use BOB from take-off, pickup, offload to touchdown.

I know it's WIP. But, The only WISH I have at this stage for BOB, is to add rudders to make him slide left/right.

Edit: and maybe a function to ask him to hover in position.

Gotta say, +1 for George.

Bob is fine as an arcade mechanism, but George is ... so much more refined.

On my part, flying on the rotorops server with a 20 minute shuttle to the action he crashes 9 times out of 10 half way there.  Sometimes into a building, sometimes my joystick accidently sliding down (yes I know, don't work when you could be staring at a screen for 20 minutes lol)!

Never have a problem in the Apache.
