Can we bring those “what if" concept plane into reality?

Hello, there were a lot of "could be" aircraft that didn't came into reality due to budget restraint, like Asf-14 supertomcat 21 or even NATF stealth f14, if we could let those true aircraft engineer from lockheed martin or northrop grumman use their professional talent using advanced CFD and avionic design profession, we could see a brand new future for the dcs world depicting a world of "what if" with realism, i want to see some stealth tomcat operating in the carrier or canard f35 or f15 armed with f119 or f15 with three horizontal surfaces

of course they could be very arrogant that probably wouldn't give a look on us, but hey there is a chance right?

only if there is enough open source unclassified data to do so... otherwise just fly the f-22 mod it will be as accurate as anything here or more likely just a skin on top of something else

We could have realistic flight model using CFD and with data from existing equipment, we could have an aircraft that could handle and functions like the real one, and i really want some stealth f14 to obliterate those 4th gen puppy like there was nothing

Some of those were paper studies, so data could not exist at all. DCS is a "top down" simulation, which requires the devs to take real aerodynamic data and then tune the FM to match it. This pretty much excludes any weird design for which there was not even wind tunnel testing, nevermind an actual, flying test article.

For that, you would require a high fidelity "bottom up" simulation, which basically means running CFD in real time. It will be less accurate than what DCS can do due to limitations of discrete modeling, so it will not be to DCS standards. Which is also why using CFD to replace actual flight test data is not going to be an acceptable method for a DCS module.

I'd welcome what if aircraft in DCS as a simulator is great for exploring experimental ideas, but they need to be clearly separate from the production/historical aircraft. You should be able to make any kind of mission you want of course, but an option that removes experimental planes like the historical mode would be needed.

While we could also generate the data needed to simulate these aircraft with tools like CFD, it may be a lot more involved than it is for more common aircraft. It's also more than aerodynamics. Structures, systems, controls, etc, all matter. Researching and testing all of those things would take some effort.

This sounds like a challenge for the community modders. There are very few prototypes and what-if which I think would meet ED's requirements to become official mods. For example the Super Tomcat 21, never went beyond a paper proposal. However the F-20 or F-111B at least made it to the prototype stage and the avionics of at least one of the two were used in a different plane so there might be enough data. The next issue is if there is desire
