This is what I see.  Tried Caucasus, Marianas, and Nevada.   Restarted, rebooted etc etc.   Steam did update the game when I first started it today.  Same with existing missions and new ones.

Start the game in MT, it's ST that is apparently causing the problem.

Just noticed you are on Steam, probably already know how to get there but just in case

Click on DCS World in your libriary then either click on the cog on the right side or right click the mouse on DCS World itself and select properties. On the General tab make sure the lauch option is Play MT Preview.

please ensure you are using MT DCS

ST DCS is broken currently and will likely be removed from DCS

thank you

I am using MT and also had this issue yesterday

I only opened up the ME very briefly yesterday evening, so I thought it may have been some buffer issue, but reading this, it seems it wasn't.

Edit:

Tried again today after a quick repair and the map/land textures were showing again

Just to confirm, I am launching in MT and still have the problem, totally blue maps and the option for satellite etc at the bottom toolbar is also gone.

I verified game files and still a problem.

I'm the Steam user. Game launcher set to MT. I have blue maps in mission editor and in game.

Hi, it will work if MT Preview is selected.

Can you attach your dcs log from saved games dcs log folder, it will give us some clues.

thank you

Thankyou, as a total DCS noob just training on the Caucasus map, this was confusing the heck out of me, I thought my AWACS must have been taken out or something. MT fixed it.

I guess I don't understand MT thing.  Never had steam only the standard install and getting the blue maps after last update.

If I go through DCS_updater the maps return but my Tobi head tracker does not activate.   If I go direct to the DCS.exe my head tracker activates but then I don't have the maps.

I did a full repair scan and it came out fine.

UPDATE

I figured it out.  head tracker was pointing to the DCS.exe file in the bin folder so I had to redirect it to bin-mt folder and copy the headtracker.dll file in the bin folder over to the bin-mt folder as well.  Now all seems to work.  Everything has always worked fine until this last update.

MT stands for the multi-thread version of DCS, ST being the traditional Single-thread DCS

Getting very frustrated here - I have set Steam launcher to ‘Play MT Preview’, and also tried the ‘Steam VR MT’ option, rebooted PC numerous times and I still have the blue maps.  Hence I can’t create meaningful missions now.

Being not very computer literate, please can someone explain in simple words if I have to do anything else.  Do I have to do something in the bin-mt folder, and if so, what?

I have no mods apart from three aircraft, the Hercules, Skyhawk and VSN Mirage.  Windows and everything else is completely up to date, and my anti-virus is solely Windows 11 Defender.

Most people seem to simply launch with MT Preview and the maps come back.  Why not for me?

I have no experience with the steam version of DCS, try to open a support ticket here:

Check that you are actually ending up in MT.  On the bottom right corner of the main screen is it showing MULTI-THREAD PREVIEW before the installed version number?  If it's not, you're not launching MT for some reason.  If it showing that, post your DCS logs because there's something different going on with your problem.

Yes, it seems that DCS is still only launching for me in ST!

I’ve just launched it with both Steam set to ‘MT Preview’, and also using the .exe in the bin-mt folder, and I STILL only get the version number 2.9.7.59263 without ‘MULTI-THREAD PREVIEW’ showing before it.

Can anyone tell me how to force DCS to launch in MT?  Do I need to change a Windows setting somewhere?  Everything else seems to be set correctly!

I don't use Steam so I can't help you on that side.  I know people using Steam seem to run into this semi-regularly.  Check the Steam Support section on here and maybe it'll give you some ideas.

I do get a map in mission editor. However, when flying either in single player instant missions or the mission editor flying my mission I don't.

Weird. I do not even get the F10 blue screen as above, with airbases and flying aircraft. I tried a repair but got nothing. Started from my windows explorer and tried the dcs.exe there from bin-mt... same thing.... no go!
