Another finding targets using target waypoint question.

Hi Guys

I am learning the F/A-18C and I'm getting there slowly. I have a mission where I attack four stationary targets (tanks). Initially I couldnt hit a barn door but I figured I was too far away to accurately select the target.

So I have a waypoint over the target, so when I'getting in the vacinity I turn on my targetting pod and slew to target waypoint. The waypoint is right on one of the targets. I'm talking about the small waypoint triangle. Does that have any effect when I'm selecting and locking targets? It seems that one of four JDAMS goes stupid and misses, I can hit three out of the four targets.

Thanks

The waypoint triangle has nothing to do with targeting. Just shows you the position of the waypoint coordinates on the flir pod.

If one of your jdams is not hitting, then it does not have the right cordinates for your intended target.

Yeah, thanks guys. I just wondered if the waypoint marker had and affect on targeting.

To make your life easier, just use waypoint designate. Puts your flir pod on the target vacinity, and also gives you the diamond symbology in the hud, hmd, and flir. Makes designating targets alot easier. Once the pod is looking where it needs to, you undesignate and use your tdc.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your comments. I'm getting there now. I've been practicing using GPU-38 JDAM's, GBU-16 LGB's and AGM-65F's. I've been using a mix of PP and TOO targeting using both types of targeting pod. I'm going on to moving targets next.

Cheers
