nessuno0505 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I have 3 methods available: 1. USB quest link 2. wifi quest link 3. wifi with virtual desktop Are there tests or experiences about? Thanks.
Steel Jaw Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Option #1 IMHO. Highest bandwidth and no other 3d party apps. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB.
nessuno0505 Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 Ok for higher bandwidth, but you have to use oculus link app with method 1 and 2 and virtual desktop app with method 3, so there's always an additional app involved.
diego999 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Option 1. Wifi doesn't reach the same visual quality, you notice it on the little details. Perfectly usable, but just not the same. Virtual Desktop is slowly improving but still behind cabled connection.
diamond26 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 In my case Quest Link is better but preferably with a good GPU as the Quest Link uses lot of VRAM. For example I use Quest Link with my Desktop with great results but I prefer VD with my laptop as the GPU is not that advanced. In addition wifi link (either Airlink or VD) needs a dedicated and good wifi router. MAIN SYSTEM SPECS: MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4, Intel Corei7-12700K @ 5.0, 64Gb RAM Kingston KF3600C18D4/16GX, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING 12GB, Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, VKB Gunfighter MkIV Ultimate with 20cm extension, VKB T-Rudder MKIV, Quest Pro Laptop SPECS: Alienware X16 R2, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4090 mobile 16GB, 32GB LPDDR5X, 2TB Micron NVMe SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11
Steel Jaw Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Much like wifi versus rj45, there's no way cable doesn't trump wifi, so cable link. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB.
mrwell Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 I've tried all of them.I obviously started with option 1, but a friend told me Meta don't provide native Quest3 resolution on it. That SteamVR or VD could force it. SteamVR is garbage for Quest3 and I tried VD. It does provide native resolution without reescalation.Hence...Option 3 gives me much better visual in DCS than the others, provided good wifi connectivity (at least Wifi6, 5Ghz, 2400 Mbds) that I have. Plus freedom of wires with extended battery.Cheers!Mr.Well
nessuno0505 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 I have a wifi 6e router next to my simpit, so I can reliably use all of the 3 methods.
hannibal Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 I was using virtual desktop via wifi 7 modem as access point for a bit and then went back to quest link usb... I think it's better via usb cable find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
