Hammer1-1 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) So I just got finished watching the Datalink/Target Sharing videos from Wags and noticed wingmen are attacking datalink targets automatically. Is this the future of controlling wingmen from here on out? I ask because the Comms/F10 menu of task assigning wingmen are akin to suicide missions with zero rewards and I would really like to find out how the best method would be for controlling them from here on out...or if that is subject to change here in some place and time. GrEaSeLiTeNiN Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) Do you mean this? I think "Chaos 2" is not AI. I was under the impression (as stated in the video) that this function is currently for human players (MP) only. I was curious about that, because it sounded like he was using a voice attack profile to get them to send and receive targets. If he had a second player doing that, he was pretty fast at it...but this video is also 8 months old, so was curious if something else was being worked on for wingmen control. GrEaSeLiTeNiN Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 IIRC, I think what works with AI wingmen are the priority(?) and no fire zones. My impression is that most datalink sharing, messaging and prosecution in DCS at the moment is largely for MP. Would be great indeed if the AI wingmen could do more but do it well. The last 3 vids by Wags after the target sharing one was on Map Mode, TADS LINK and C-Scope. Maybe Chaos 2 was a test AI in the works and would appear again soon . 1 AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8GB | 64GB G.SKILL TRIDENT Z4 neo DDR4 3600Mhz | Asus B550 TUF Plus Gaming | 2TB Aorus Gen4 TM Warthog HOTAS | TrackIR 5 | Windows 10 Home x64 | My HOTAS Profiles

It was another ED employee in a multiplayer session helping record the videos is all. It wasn't a voice-activated AI wingman. 3 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. DCS Rotor-Head

Hammer1-1 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Well, my question still stands. How are wingmen going to be controlled in the future? LIke I mentioned earlier its basically a suicide mission for the most part, the Ka50 has better comms for controlling them....its more or less like dragging 3 other people with you and it is nowhere near as efficient as it should be. I mean you REALLY have to be on your game just to use them even half assed. Its just a handicap in missions when they're tied alongside you. Dustbag1969 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 I don't know if I am doing something wrong but if I issue a request to my wingman (eg Attack ground targets). I always get ghe same response which is "Negative". Does anyone else have any luck getting them to help?
plott1964 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) I'm pretty sure the contacts need to be within visual range of the wingmen. Usually, if you get a a callout from a wingman (i.e. "mud spike 12 o'clock") before your request, then they will execute your command. Just because you see a target does not mean your AI wingman will. 336_TheAngryGamer Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 (edited) In the instant action menu for the Apache, the hot start of at least one spawns you with a wingman. No matter what I tried, they plowed into me every single time. So, I started pivoting on the tarmac, shooting the hell out of him, then lifting off. The AI is really bad. I tried multiple ways and never got the wingman to engage anything. plott1964 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 It may also be the skill level that they are set to. IDK, you are correct. In theory, they should see everything since they are AI.
