Dogman Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Hi Guys Recently I discovered a strange issue with the nose wheel steering on my FA/18. When starting cold I am unable to engage NWS even though the bind I have used. It works when activated in the controls screen I can even see the Paddle behind he joy stick move in the cockpit when I use the assigned bind but I get no NWS display in the HUD. When I enter a single player mission and start the simulation in a started plane the NWS displays in the HUD and works normally, however as soon as I use the bind the NWS display is gone and I no longer have NWS function. If I take off and then return to land the NWS is displayed in the HUD and works when the plane has landed but again as soon as I use the bind it stops working again. I have searched this issue on line and in this forum and can't find any other user having this specific problem. Would certainly appreciate any thoughts on what I can do to resolve this issue which affectively stops me from using the module in MP servers. To activate NWS you need to press the NWS button. Are you sure, you didn‘t accidentially mix that up? vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.

jonsky7 Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Well I was pressing the NWS switch and nothing was happening, came across this post and checked my bindings, all good. I did find out that if I have this problem, then pressing the paddle and then the NWS switch worked. Maybe my paddle switch is getting stuck on when it does that sync with joystick at start-up or something. But thanks Phantom
Razor18 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 (edited) The paddle switch generates in fact two values: one, when you "pull" and do not reelease it ("JOY_BTN8"), the other one when you release it ("JOY_BTN 7"). If you look carefully in the binding screen after pressin "Add combo", you can see how the two values are used. The same thing borked my paddle switch (AP disengage while held) usage in the F-16, because when I bound it, I pressed and also released the paddle switch, whic made my bounding using "Paddle switch release" instead of "Paddle switch pressed".
