SCUDs won't reload/Rearm.

SCUD reloading issue. I have put a URAL in a group of SCUDS. They fire their first volley of missiles. Then nothing. They just sit there idle in post firing position. I have sat watching for over an hour on fast forward. Nothing.

I'm sure this is probably an issue with something I'm doing as I can't find anyone else with the same issue online.

Could someone talk me through the process.

  • Is there a Waypoint trigger I need to set
  • Do you need 1 URAL per launcher?

Kind Regards

No waypoint triggers are needed and one ural can supply an unlimited amount of units. Rearming should start automatically but can take a long time.

Unfortunately the SCUD isn't listed in the user manual how long it takes.

Thank you for your reply. As I say, I've watched for over an hour and it did not Rearm. Maybe I need to wait longer. Seems way too long to Rearm at over an hour. But maybe that's correct. It is a complex system in real life.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

According to the manual a Smerch takes 2160 seconds to rearm while an SA-10 takes 7200 seconds. I have no idea how long a SCUD would take but the possibility of more than one hour for rearming is there.

I might test it later on and report back.

According to the lua file reload should be 2400 seconds. Have you tried placing the SCUD in a controlled airbase? Maybe they consider that the SCUD is too big to be reloaded in the field?

Two things come to mind.

1. Make sure the fireAtPoint task has a expend limit set. Otherwise the task will remain active and for whatever reason ED decided that units shouldn't try to reload as long as a fireAtPoint task is active.

2. Set the alarm state after firing so that the unit stows the launcher. This is more for allowing the SCUD to drive after shooting, but it could impact rearming. Last I tested the scud launcher no longer stows itself automatically after shooting.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Is that reported?

You need a vehicle nearby to rearm, I am assuming this is because someone just can't carry the missile over from a warehouse, but I will check. In my case, I used a ZIL-135. It does take time though, it was about 43 minutes from the first launch to the second launch. Hope that helps.

Thanks Nine,

I have now got these working. Thank you. I believe it was a me issue. I didn't check that vehicle I was using to Rearm had the black circle. So I was waiting to a vehicle that couldn't Rearm to do the job. Perhaps a seperate category in the mission editor for Re-Arming/Ground Crew would be useful. But as it appears not a lot of other people have this issue (Google Searches). It's probably not worth the effort.

Thank you all for you messages and help.
