john_X Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) this is what i'm workin now. it's not a very popular plane, but i hope that my serbian neighbours will apreciate it. it will have skins for both countries and i think it will replace the su-25 bmber... Edited January 23, 2018 by john_X 4
Kuky Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 ooooooooooooo..... now this is something I've been wishing for a loooooooooong loooooooooong time... I hope it turns out to be a great model... so far it has very nice smooth shape and looks pretty accurate also... will be looking your progress  PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
john_X Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 ty kuky. now i have a problem...this is the first time i introduce one of my models in a game.it looks very smooth because it wasn't made initially for the game and i added some serious meshsmooth that makes a common computer even crash... i supose i have to reduce something but i don't know what to take account of..number of polys, FPS, size of the file(.3ds, how many mb it has) or what? please help...
shaggy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I will let my dear friend OldCrow answerer this but i think about 35- 40 000 polys is the best way to go, though i know some planes that are over 50 000 polys, but i guess that comes down to good LOD modelling. john_X Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 i reduced it to 80000 and cant go under if i want 2 keep the smoothness. can i keep it this way?
Sir_Troooper Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I think 80000 is good, there are some models in DCS with more polys. A.K.A Csocso

john_X Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) ty very much for the photos. i'm very proud to bring it to 47000 polys and look like this. but still not finished. Edited January 23, 2018 by john_X 1
Alper22 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Good job mate. But 47.000 is sounds a bit much. Hope it dont make our computers :D. Looking forward plane. "Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and birds in the sky"
john_X Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 that's weird. if 47000 is much then how are those more than 80000?i heard that the original su-25 has about 50000polys. are you sure 47000 is much? i wonder how many polys has the 3GO su27 1
Vekkinho Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Nice work John X, Keep it up mate! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JaNk0 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 That things looks really sweet! Nice work john x! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I use to much mesh smooth on it. Becase i was do this model when im a newbie in 3dmax(still im not good). And when i test this plane with friends, one of them says it makes a bit lag because of much polys.. And i was worry about it a bit. "Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and birds in the sky"
Kuky Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 keep number of polys higher rather then too low... 47000 is alright as long as model is correct in shape and curves in the right places :D Please take extra care to not miss some obvious error (if there is any) in the shape or missing some detail it should be there. From last photo I think wings are missing these, what are they called... slats?... on top of the wing? Kuky Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Just looking back the photos and your model I feel tail is little too curved and rear of the tail should be bit lower and I see missing antena on top fuselage, behind cockpit... little things like that... please don't forget them. theGozr Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Fantastic.. !! Please make sure to replace the SU-25TM and not the SU-25T.. Also at that point modeling the 3D damages tires blow out etc etc.. would definitely a great great addition... and a keeper !!!! Fly it like you stole it..
