sandpatch Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 The autopilot on the F16 is very weak. If the plane is not perfectly balanced out, there will be drift instead of following the heading or even holding straight. This should change to a more agreesive steering so that the autopilot can hold teh course better, like literally every autopilot in existence.

Make sure your stick is centered. I believe it's not. Maybe you need a deadzone set. Can you post a short track, as I don't have your issue? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
darkman222 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) Are you sure that you have also set the jet to follow either the heading bug or the steerpoint with the switch left of the autopilot switch? If not it will only hold altitude or attitude but not course. If the jet is not trimmed perfectly it will give the impression of the AP drifting. But in fact, if you switch AP off the jet will just drift or better roll the exact same amount. Edited October 28, 2024 by darkman222 1
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 28, 2024 ED Team Posted October 28, 2024 Hi all, a reminder of our rules please do not post from real world documents, we know many of them can be found online but that does not change the restrictions on the document. A PM is always better in those cases. I will ask the team again about this issue however it has been discussed many times and found to be correct for DCS. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? sandpatch Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 @BIGNEWY Forgot about that rule. Oopsie Anyway, can you please take up these 2 items with the team: Autopilot Stick steering breakout force. There should be something because now, as soon as you touch the stick the plane accepts the inputs. This is almost dangerous since you can't rest the hand on the stick or TMS without it moving. Try it on a force sensing stick and you will find out. Autopilot should be stronger when reaching the requested angles because there it is very weak, but quite strong when far away from the requested angle. One could even argue that it is too strong when far from the requested angle. The autopilot has a "limited authority" so it's input isn't strong, but it will still use all of it to get close to the desired course. I hope this makes sense
