DCS downloads the complete update, and then applies it before it removes it. So if the update is larger than your free space, you're out of luck.
The remedy for this is of course to free up space, get another/larger drive, or you can temporarily uninstall modules to bring the update size down, and then install the modules again in steps. For avoiding re-downloading everything again, I just learned if this trick, you can copy the modules to an external drive before you uninstall them and add a txt file to point DCS where they are. And the Updater will fetch the files it needs from that location.
I have every module. The update was 293+ GB for me. So I need 300GB of free space...

If you have more than one disk drive a good option is to create symbolic links to your DCS _downloads folder, this will then use the other disk for downloading the update freeing up more space for DCS itself.

thank you

Ryzen 7, 32Gb ddr4 ram, 3 SSDs a 250Gb (came with system),and a 500Gb,& 1TB Samsung Evo's, a STRIX 11Gb 1080ti, 32inch MSi G32 curved monitor, Warthog HOTAS and thrustmaster pedals and Track IR

Only options is uninstall some modules or make a symlink for the temp download folder to a different disk if you have one as BIGNEWY allready said.

How to make a symlink for the temp folder to a different drive or USB device: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/181400-guide-how-to-make-dcs-download-updates-on-a-separate-drive/

The last two updates have been downloading 120 Gb+ and then unpacking 220+. I have 500 Mbit unlimited data and enough space on my SSDs so not that much of a problem for me, but no way that all installed files have been updated and needs to be downloaded twice in short time?

There seems to be some problem with the installer scanning for the files that need to be updated?

Right now...

And for the sake of it. 259 Gb space used for the highwater of the install... Naturally depending on the modules I have etc.

First image - finalizing the download (E:) is where DCS is. 132 GB free

Second after install is done. 391 GB free
