Patch notes discussion November 2024

Looking forward to the update. In general, I think it's great that ED announces the updates beforehand - I just moved my installation to a bigger disk, but before that I really had to know what to expect to make sure to have enough disk space. Also it's a time issue, when we make a multiplayer hop we all have to have the recent version installed. That being said, maybe it would be wiser to communitate a calendar week for an scheduled update and share a definity date only if ED is 100 percent sure that the update will be ready. That way, maybe there will be less people disappointed if an update has to be postponed. I'm sure we all agree that it's better to have an update late than one that breaks the game. 

As much as I love DCS - taking a day off for a suspected day of an update would be too much and too uncertain for me.

Thank you for explaining.
Allow me to suggest that you communicate a release date one day prior to release, after you are sure you are going to release. This might result in one day delay between completing the update and releasing it to the community, but the upside is that you will become trustworthy and the community can understand the impact on planned OPS.
After a successful build, test and release preparation, you could already publish the change log so we know what to expect the next day and can decide whether our planned OPS need to be postponed due to the changes.
I would greatly appreciate the above.

In an ideal world that would be great, but some final checks can only be done on the patch day. 

But I understand the sentiment and feedback.

We all work very hard and are passionate about the work we do, some of us including myself have been doing this for well over a decade, we also get disappointed when things dont go to plan, but if we see any issue that will break DCS its always best to delay and sort the issue out. And as you mentioned even the mega corporations have bad days  
 

No matter what happens, we hope you enjoy DCS, and continue to have fun. 

 

Keep trying best! I do enjoy. And plan to purchase 2 modules (OH58 and a map) soon to award myself meanwhile supporting ED.

after reading all these comments, I didn't understand everything hence my question! is today's patch 04/12 postponed to tomorrow 05/12 or is it still planned for today unless there is a last minute problem?

Initial release was anticipated on the 3. But postponed until today. (the 4.)
If all is good, it will be available later today.

He is expecting to buy an upgrade for the F5 after patch release. Hence webstore..
Changelog will reveal the release. Hence "changelog" thread in another tab in browser.  :)
