Current contrails run by the old particle system, with a texture on a string of 2D planes.  It also has a hard time properly interacting with clouds, as in most cases contrails currently can be partly seen through a cloud.  Just asking that contrail effects perhaps use the new volumetric system.

Thanks!

Volumetrics are basically textures in 3d like typical4096x4096 on xy but yet with 4096 times of that to be same resolution in z direction, it is insanity. So for clouds where a small amount of z layers interpolated between with math noise algorithms to look not as very blocky things, imagen necessary density of voxels you need to get nicely looking trails in close proximity and as from 100km distances, smooth appearing, consistent with changing altitudes as smooth lines and without jugged stairs or density drops, and somehow changing with time. Particle systems has way less overhead without need to dig tranches in the flat floor of your room. Never gonna happen.

If only they didn't disappear and not move/rotate with the view angle... it'd be great.
