That's a better quota than trying to start some training missions, e.g. the third: 100% crash/program freeze.

A different studio is further developing it now, which means that it'll take even longer to get AA3 to a playable level.

at least its free.....

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

actually the authentication servers have just been completely overwhelmed since the game released.

the game itself is actually surprisingly stable. Want proof? turn off your router and turn off your modem. then launch aa3. select play offline mode. then go to multiplayer and select locations. then select details, then explore. You will find that all maps load perfectly, and you can run around and explore the maps a bit. you can even do all the training missions with no problems in offline mode. (it wont count obviously though because your in offline mode).

They just need to sort out the overload on the servers and then the game should run fine.

The game strikes me as having potential. however at this point its just major frustration. Not bad at all for a freebie though.

Dont let the smell get to ya...............

But that's the whole point, the servers are not stable. And although ppl can just play MP now without doing the trainings it's still unstable and ppl often get disconnected from the servers without any apparent reason.

Apart from that performance is pretty bad since some effects (e.g. motion blur) are hardly optimized/not optimized at all.

It's not that bad at all and most of the problems come from the lack of interest people have in reading what to do and how to avoid these problems.

It seems they totally underestimated the ammount of players, so the initial release caused the authorization-servers that record the stats to be hopelessly overwhelmed. It took about 24 hours, then they got the servers back up and it worked quite well and the devs put out a message on the forums, begging the players to not do the training, because you can play without it, apart from some graphics glitches, that don't effect gameplay.

They didn't care and as soon as the message made it's way, they all rushed back in and crashed the server again by doing the trainings all at once.

So they made another step and unlocked all trainings, so there was really no reason to do the training at all. People still did...

Almost a week after the release the first patch has been released and it increased performance very much and almost eliminated the random disconnect. It has a small problem though: They reworked the routine that deletes the temporary files, so after a while they overflow and you get a hanging app as soon as you join a server. That has nothing to do with instable servers, though. It's a client-problem.

The solution is pretty simple:

Delete the temp-files.

Here you can read how it can be done:

http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=299457&page=6

I never had a single crash or disconnect since doing so.

The bugs ingame are pretty minor and mostly user-made. If you choose a class while teams already were locked, you may have an empty gun. If you join a server that has more player-slots than applicable for the server, map or type of game, you'll not be able to spawn. That's pretty much it.

As with UnrealTournament3 and all it's predecessors and games that use the engine, you should definitely turn down shadows. They cause a tremendous performance-hit.

On a side-note:

If you don't see the HUD, press F1 twice. :smilewink:

And please, DON'T TO THE TRAININGS ONLINE!!!
