F-4 authorization error

I've been flying it all day. Then a new driver from December 5th was installed on the GeForce 4070 graphics card. After that, when logging into DCS, I have an error. I reinstalled it. but it's not in the game.

Is F4 included in the new package of sanctions for Russia?

please check your antivirus is not creating a problem, set an exception for DCS and then run a repair.

if you still have issues contact our support directly on our website.

thank you

No need for sarcasm on this Forum, most likely your Antivirus is interfering with DCS, make sure to implement a folder exclusion on the AV configuration so that it doesn't touch DCS and then run a DCS_Updater Repair to recover the files that the AV may have quarantined.

Everything worked. DCS recovery is not required, it is enough to restore the files. A lot of nasty things happen on the Internet during the New Year holidays. I have a new computer, it was bought exclusively for CS, except for DCS there is nothing on it. I didn't even know that Windows 11 has a built-in antivirus. But considering that something new is banned in Russia every day, when DNS stops working, I have a panic.

This is an unfortunate but common ongoing issue that happens every couple of updates to any module using fancy features (code-wise), such as for example also some Razbam modules for years already.

Generally, the best solution is to whitelist the DCS folder in your Antivirus software and then restore the quarantined files (DCS repair will do the trick). This will also boost performance a bit.

If you search through the forum and Discords you will find it mentioned every couple of months.

Sadly there is no good way for us to fix this from our side. The global AV database whitelisting processes are tedious and slow. It usually takes them until about 2 weeks after the update to accept and ship the DB updates and stop flagging it - until it happens again with the next update when the DLL changed slightly again.

I would think white listing entire folders would be a great way to get a virus.

Not really ... >95% of virus infections came to you over e-mail and web browsing, and once you do get a virus, it is unlikely that it will target the DCS folder, it is much more likely that it will scavenge your disk looking for credit card information, e-mail addresses, and the like.

How about some steps to fix it? I am not great at this kind of stuff...I can see the block by M/S virus protection calling this a severe threat. I am reluctant to say it is okay for an app to go.

Antivirus always err on the safe side, that is they have no problem on falsely flagging a file as infected ... in the end it all depends on who you trust more: ED to not infect your PC, or Microsoft making a quality AV that never gives a false positive.

Unfortunately, it is the only solution to the problem unless you want to wait about 2 weeks until all AV companies updated their DBs and then you have to go through this again with each update.

The problem is the AV flagging good files as malicious because they do for example file or network IO (obviously, cause its a game). We have no control over what the AV does and the only way to fix this us by the customer whitelisting the file or by the AV company whitelisting it globally. And latter is a tedious process that takes a few weeks and needs to be repeated each time the file changes (i.e. on every couple of updates).

Its not a new thing, it has happened to at least 5 modules over the years and also affected the Phantom half a year ago already. It also happens to other platforms, in particular indie game devs deploying without Steam and similar.

So what do I do...seems the protection says to remove or restore... What is "white listing"?

The exact steps will differ depending on which exact AV software you are using (e.g. Microsofts Defender, Kaspersky, Norton, Awast, AVG,...).

It boils down to telling the AV software that the file is not a virus and it should be ignored (whitelisted). For simplicity and to ensure you wont be bothered by this for other DCS files in the future anymore, you can also try to tell it to trust the entire DCS install folder instead of just this particular file.

After that is done, you need to make sure the affected file is restored, since your AV quarantined (deleted) it. This can often be done somewhere in their UI, but running a DCS repair (or Steam File Integrity Check) will also get you any missing files back.

Since this is not a new issue, you can find other threads somewhere on this forum with step by step guides and pictures for commonly used AV softwares. Searching with Google can likely also help a lot with it

Does anyone know what's up with this?  Everything else seems ok but the F-4 is failing authorization at boot up.  It's not available for me to fly.  And, yes, I did purchase it.  It's not a trial.  🙂

Windows Defender shows there's a Trojan Horse in the .ddl

Sure, the AV says so, but have you actually seen any DCS user that has been infected by this so called trojan? Any user, even one? i haven’t known of a single case.
