I do not have nvidia app installed. Also I am not on the newest nvidia driver with my RTX 4090 card. From what I've seen, the DCS default preset is C, so I'm still using the profile inspector. 1
Nighthawk 117 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 If you have the Nvidia app no need to use inspector as you can pick preset on the app now

May be worth having a look at the last few posts in this thread. With the latest DCS update, you can select which preset DCS uses by editing the autoexec.cfg file. 1 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero

Natively supported in DCS now. Add the below line to your C:\Users\Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg file (create it if it doesn’t exist) to set the preset for DCS DLSS_Preset = "K" You can add this line as well if you don’t want DLSS applied to MFDs and HUD to keep them sharp with no ghosting for greater control. VietGirl Posted May 24 Posted May 24 OK thanks for your help , It just seemed that all the work witH NV INSPECTOR was for nought
VietGirl Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Hi just noticed the new Nvidia app , allows you to set the DLSS Preset in there , A to K , I don't know if you need all the different settings anymore , since Nvidia App now allows you to change settings, did not before this update !
Griefhard Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Well, besides from all settings, how do you find DLSS spotting compared to MSAA in the current version? I didn't come by to test yet, but I found spotting with standard DLSS settings in native DCS terrible in the last version. Is it now close or equal to MSAA?

Would you mind posting a screenshot where you’re using this option? I see an option for this, but for me it’s grayed out.

I got it working by updating the Nvidia App to version 11.0.3.241. My Nvidia driver version is 576.15, running a 5070Ti. Also, my Windows account is an Administrator, not sure if that would matter in your case. However, here are some screenshots of the K-preset. 1

I had been avoiding DLSS due to the graphic artifacts it caused, especially pronounced in the MFD displays, but the new modifications to autoexec.cfg completely remove the artifacts. Distant aircraft spotting with the DLSS performance setting seems to me about the same as without DLSS. I am now a big fan of DLSS. 2 1

Mine is already set to "Latest", so I assume that's due to the Profile Inspector setting.
AlessandroFuBu Posted May 24 Posted May 24 thanks @sleighzy, I have tried those two lines but with preset C but I don't see any improovment in mfd. does it work in vr? I have quest 3 and same hardware that you have Those settings will work in VR. Note that if you're using C then nothing will have changed elsewhere in the game as C is the default that DCS has always used. The 2nd line is just so that it doesn't apply DLSS to MFDs. Do you notice any difference in the MFDs when using DLSS vs. not using DLSS? AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
VietGirl Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Thank's widen76, for posting screenshot , didn't have time due to being other side of the World , how do you find it , easier than all the stuff you have to do , making autoexec file , or using Nvidia inspector?

Thanks. Well, I'm not a fan of using the Nvidia Inspector, I find it cluttered. It's a fine tool but still a bit of a "hacky" add-on. I try to keep it as simple as possible. The autoexec.cfg edit is fine and should be OK across DCS upgrades. However, setting the options in the Nvidia App feels the most natural for me, for now at least. It's the most "official" tool, and changes can be made in a central place. Yeah I don't know, I'll stick with that for the time being, until Nvidia makes changes and break stuff, then we're back to hacking again

widen76 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 5 minutes ago, ScorpioFeralHog said: Thanks, worked for me too on my 3080ti. How did you get the info line to show your DLSS version and preset? Great to hear! You can download and use the free tool DLSS Tweaks Config Tool and set the option "DLSS HUD Override" to Enabled (All DLLs), see image below. This will display the info in DCS. Note, if you're running VR it might not show up in the headset. If so, just run the sim on a regular monitor to see it. If you rather use registry files to enable the DLSS HUD, here they are: == DLSS HUD On == Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore] "ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000400 == DLSS HUD Off == Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore] "ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000000 1 1
Griefhard Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) I did a test with my system: VR Valve Index - 150% (DCS '1' pixel density) | nVidia GTX 3090 | Intel i7-9700K | 64GB RAM Put in the two lines in the autoexec.cfg (DLSS_Preset = "K" and HUD_MFD_after_DLSS = true) Was flying F14. And I have to say MSAA 4x is still quite superior. Had still lots of ghosting with DLSS. Edited May 26 by Griefhard
Koziolek Posted May 26 Posted May 26 (edited) I wonder what happens if I change DLSS into DLAA in autoexec file? Will it work with DLAA too? I mean the MFD part Edited May 26 by Koziolek
