Thank you, @Livers. Unfortunately, I'm still unable to reproduce the issue.

I see you're using Upscaling (=0.66). Can you disable upscaling in DCS and see if messages are still clipped?

Upscaling is OFF in the file I provided. I just downloaded it from above and checked.

Scaling is 0.66, and setting it to 1.0 doesn't seem to do anything. FWIW, I normally do set Scale GUI to 1.5 in the Options.

Where in the GUI is either setting exposed?

In DCS System options, select an "Upscaling" mode, then you will see the slider at the value 0.66.

Then it's probably caused by something else, because I just cannot reproduce your issue. Please replay this very short track and ensure you keep seeing the issue. This is what I see when I use your settings:

@Flappie, of course your track works perfectly. I have one mission that that always fails - at the "Mission Successful!" message at the very end. A track is out of the question, so I'll have to look more closely to see if I can duplicate it in a quickie. It may very well be one of those things that will correct itself with a rebuild of the triggers. I'll try that first of all.

@Flappie apologies for not responding sooner. I have also tried turning off Upscaling, but it made no difference. This is my options.lua, see attached.

i also tried running your trk file, and I see the issue there unresolved.

Hi @Zyll. I used your options.lua with my track, and I still cannot reproduce your issue. This might be caused by some custom file in your "Saved Games/DCS" folder.

Try this if you want (do NOT delete anything, only do renamings):

  1. Browse to "Saved Games"
  2. Rename "DCS" (or DCS.openbeta) to "DCS.bak"
  3. Start DCS, log in, run the track and see if you can still reproduce the issue.

Once the test is over:

  1. Exist DCS.
  2. Browse to "Saved Games"
  3. Rename "DCS" (or DCS.openbeta) to "DCS.test"
  4. Rename "DCS.bak" to "DCS" (or DCS.openbeta)

with a brand new saved games/DCS folder, i didn't see the issue. Interesting.

I can try comparing versions of files if I have an idea what files to look at. options.lua is one, any others to consider?

Good! We're going somewhere.

Try this folder:

  • "Saved Games\DCS\Config\View"

And these files:

  • Saved Games\DCS\Config\appSettings.lua
  • Saved Games\DCS\Config\imgui.ini
  • Saved Games\DCS\Config\MultiplayerDialogsPositions.lua
  • Saved Games\DCS\Config\VCPosition.lua

I was mistaken actually. When I had a brand new saved games/DCS folder, it still had the issue. I didn't realize that the test message initially appeared completely hidden behind the bar at the top of the screen. Here's a video of what I see. The test message shows eventually lower in the screen because it gets pushed down from the top of the screen by the comms menu, but its still being hidden at the start when the comms menu is not displayed.

i've tried different screen resolutions, thinking my ultra-wide aspect ratio might be the issue, but 16x9 and 5x4 still showed the issue.

EDIT: you will notice that the Comms Radio menu appears in the proper location (not cut off), but the "this is a message" text comes up hidden behind the bar at the top of the screen.

EDIT2: actually upon watching the video again, and seeing Flappie's screenshots in this thread, I think its just because there's extra padding above the Comms Radio menu, that's why it doesn't get cut off

OK. So it's not something in the Saved Games folder, and it's not the screen either (I have a 3440x1440 display as well).

Please try a DCS cleanup then a DCS repair (link).

Yep that fixed it! the cleanup/repair identified these files, one/all of them must have been the culprit:

Scripts/Speech/common.lua

Scripts/Speech/speech.lua

Scripts/UI/RadioCommandDialogPanel/RadioCommandDialogsPanel.lua

Scripts/UI/RadioCommandDialogPanel/TabSheetBar.lua

Scripts/UI/gameMessages.lua

I think its Vaicom / VoiceAttack which modified these files. @Livers do you run Vaicom Pro perchance?

Not for several years. Cleanup/Repair finds nothing here. Though, I haven't seen the problem in a while. I'm glad to hear you're sorted.
