Dora 4k Cockpit Upgrade and Overhaul

I'm happy to give you my overhauled dora cockpit! Some things that were done

• All textures were upscaled to 4k, every line and detail were sharpened and refined
• Colors were corrected. Cockpit corrected to late war RLM 66, main instrument panel texture(including normal map and roughmet) were redone from wood to metal with a historically accurate Bakelite tone...great for absorbing light and reducing glare. Leather and main instuments changed to black for historical accuracy 
• Dirt added where it should be as the cockpit was sterile and ready for a heart transplant operation
• Light bleed anomaly behind the rudder pedals greatly improved to a smooth transition

Again too large for for the DCS userfiles but you can get it off my google docs

install pathway is in the main DCS install ie. ?:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Liveries\Cockpit_FW190D9

i'm sorry for that every plane has its own needs lol, also I did remove the white writing around the speed indicator and updated the google drive file... it was a last minute thing so apologies but ill continue to update that file and you can redownload at your convenience :). Ill add that in this post as youre not the only one that had to use this path

Your D9 Dora cockpit re-work looks great. THANKS!  I am curious if anyone knows what the actual leather colour was... I have seen shades of brown and shades of grey,but am wondering what the actual historical leather colour was.

The color was black according to D.(Luft)T. 5009 (Fw 190D-9 Handbook). and cross referencing real photos.

Excellent. I just did a mission with your upgraded D9 cockpit. I like it it alot better than the original. (Your K4 too)The black leather actually makes quite a difference for me. Good work.

Thanks a lot again your work SABOT! Way better than before now.

About leather and gauge colors, they were supposed to be black but i believe it was kinda same story as exterior colors, it was depending of wich sub-contrator was manufacturing the parts. So possibly also brown leather was used sometimes (at least that was the case with TA 152).

Absolutely, I chose black because its what I saw in photos, brown very much couldve likely been used depending on who made what, if it was replaced etc etc though id expect the brown leather to be much darker than the stock d9 cockpit.... by this time in the war cockpits have german cockpits have also gotten much darker, it was all about glare reduction. Even the standard RLM 66 paint used has inconsistencies from plane to plane, so there is plenty of room for interpretation :).  That wood instrument panel however had to go, I could not find a single record of a dora using a wood panel even with the material shortage during that period, also looks like balsam wood lol with grains that widely spaced that thing would disintegrate after a minute of it shaking like that haha

I installed it at Saved Games and works with no issue in-game:

 

 

My DCS folder at saved games is DCS.296, yours is likely different.

It seems that the target range scale of the EZ 42 shows feet, not meters. The 150 meter mark is seen as 400. 

Can You correct it, please?

There were, especially during late war stages. But dark leather was more predominant.

Keep in mind, many D9s were actually converted A8s.

 

The range meter is wrong. I actually made a bug report on this, but no response so far.

The indicator itself should have a "400" instead of the "100", as another forum member pointed out. HOWEVER, thats all what ED actually did... the horizontal line between the 400/100 and the 600 is  approximately 250is meters for a spitfire sized target at 11m wingspan....
so go figure how to make your gyro work...

Sabot, thank you very much for this mod.

A question: I tried to install the mod in the recommended path (Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Liveries\Cockpit_FW190D9) but my DCS doesn't read it. Any recommendations?

Inside the Cockpit_FW190D9 folder I have another one called Default. Should I delete it?

no, that’s ED’s default cockpit (with german lettering)

I have been able to install it now without problems in saved game as Rudel.

Unfortunately i cannot fix this nor will ED likely be able to via texturing. I scaled the range indicator to meters but obviously the texture of the range indicator is now 3x the length and wont fit nor work properlynull. Heres a side by side scaled comparison...what i can try to do is scale the gun convergence accordingly in the FW190 default description but this is new territory for me any recommendations appreciated

I didn't was aware of this bug, @Doughguy. I only wondered why the EZ 42 works so badly and didn't use it as much. I mostly use it like a traditional gunsight.
