chaos Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM (edited) I read the patch notes while downloading it and was pleasantly surprised that improvements were made to the flightmodel. I always thought it was a bit off, especially in the low speed regime. What a difference a patch maketh! The feel is now so much better without the "rubber-banding" and exaggerated adverse yaw. It has now become one of my most favorite module of DCS. I haven't been using it "in anger" but flying around and doing aerobatics is so much fun now. What I didn't notice in the patch notes was adjustment to the trim settings. Trim can be adjusted much more accurately now... or is it just me? Well done Heatblur! That was in the previous patch (2.9.15.9408) But yes, the F-4 feels a lot more docile and precise now when taking off and landing, and while doing landing circuits. It is a very noticeable improvement! I've been practicing the standard landing pattern and either been dropping out of the sky on final or gain too much altitude and need to go around. (a straight in landing with flare seems to be ok though) Obviously mainly a skill issue, but hopefully this will help! Volator Posted Thursday at 12:23 PM Posted Thursday at 12:23 PM The old characteristics at take-off had always been a gamble between a late rotation resulting in a too long, too fast take-off roll, and a too sudden rotation resulting in a tailstrike. Now with tge adjusted FM the nose comes up slowly, nicely and controllable just like in the real aircraft. Attitude can be maintained well at take-off now. Well done, HB! SloppyDog Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM Yep. much much better for me as well. I always suffered through landings, but now it is easier, with no unpleasant surprises along the way, like a sudden loss of lift. And on speed, or slightly fast as I like, is much more controllable now, easier to maintain using trim and throttle.
Kalasnkova74 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I agree with the others. The flight model changes are a welcome upgrade. Before ,on landing an alert hand on the throttles was needed -or you’d just plop on the ground. Now the Phantom II is much smoother, more predictable and less likely to fall like an anvil over the fence. The trim feels much better, the aircraft is easier to control on bomb passes, and overall the flight model feels much more refined and forgiving. Well done HB!
