Michi.G85 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) I can´t load the last update. It seems, like there is to less space on my drive (~200 GB). WTF? Why do I need to install ALL of the modules - even if I don´t own them? No wonder my drive is full. This isn´t normal behaviour, is it? I.E.: I don´t own the F-15E - but it stills downloads it with 3.2GB. Absolutely unnecessary. Edited May 24 by Michi.G85
Art-J Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Yes, it's normal. Even if you don't own them, you need to be able to SEE them as AI units, or other palyers' units while palying online. "Coremods" folder contains all files required for that purpose (3D models, sounds, textures, animations, liveries). When you purchase an aircraft module, the rest of the files needed to make it flyable (mostly cockpit model and textures) goes into "Mods" folder. TOMCATZ Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Yes - Exactly the point! I have the same problem and I avoid updates since ages. I have to make a decision: Delete Kola Map (The only map I have) and Update after or just let everything as it is. The problem is: Tons of skin files for types and aircrafts I `ve never asked and wanted. In order to download the Kola map or Cold War , I have to delete all the useless files I really not need or want ... 40GB´s just for the F-4 , 15GB`s for the F-1 , 600MB´s for the Christen Eagle What that fu.... plus all the WW2 stuff I not want or need. And evertimy when you hit the update button, DCS is trying to install all this ... again with the result ... guess what ... right, not enough space. So ... no updates, no problems. The real problem of ED nowadays: - too large skin files - too large map files (Kola 160GB`s, ColdWar 120GB`s) - too many unwanted modules ( I mean Christen Eagle ... come on!!!) Cheers TOM Edited May 24 by TOMCATZ 2 Born to fly but forced to work.

TOMCATZ Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Well - As long as there is no major update that changes everything (Sexy new modul ) or something I really need ( real ATC and tactical radio comunication and AWACs calls) no. Why ? The problem is : If there are more freaks like me, doing the same thing, then ED could lose some community members because not everybody has unlimited finacial resources and time available. Because with no updates you can not join online games or servers. Somebody might think, thats fine for me - I enjoy my own DCS alone. But then in the result the community might be divided a bit more Edited May 24 by TOMCATZ Born to fly but forced to work.

If thats true, why do these files get deleted after the update is finished?null

If you search the forums you can find instructions on how to download the update to a non DCS drive but have it installed back onto your normal DCS drive. That will let you download the update on a larger HDD drive but have it install the update onto your space limited SSD for example. 2
