zmz125000 Posted Thursday at 05:12 PM Posted Thursday at 05:12 PM (edited) defalut views in some dcs modules were made looking downward on purpose to show the instruments on flatscreen. it seems like the f4u is one of them and the view is like 30 degree downward which looks very uncomfortable. I have never flown on f4u before, could anyone confirm that the default view is good or wrong? added: first pic is my adjusted position and angle, second pic is the default position and angle Edited Friday at 02:34 AM by zmz125000 2
Ala13_ManOWar Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM Posted Thursday at 05:19 PM Default PoV can be easily changed and saved in any module, and this one I'm sure is no exception. Look for the procedure in the forums, I can't recall the key combos used. 1 "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. Ala13_ManOWar Posted Thursday at 05:29 PM Posted Thursday at 05:29 PM Every axis, place, angle, zoom level, everything can be changed in the aforementioned fashion to your personal liking. DP Spaz Posted Thursday at 06:08 PM Posted Thursday at 06:08 PM (edited) I am not seeing the 30 degree down look perspective. What I am seeing is the field of view (FOV) adjustment only allows to see the top half of the top row of instruments directly forward. Tired to adjust the FOV using "/" & "*", this is the max adjustment back from the instrument panel. Would expect adjustment would allow a little further back so that you can see more of the instrument panel. This occurs in 2D using the monitor without head tracking, and also 2D using my Tobii Eye Tracker 5. I tried to slew around in the cockpit with the r-shift number pad keys, its not working. When I hit a key command, it jitters and falls back to this default view. It does not allow me to slew around the cockpit. In VR using my Quest3 and Virtual Desktop, the FOV is perfect and no issues. Here is a screenshot of the FOV furthest back in 2D. You can see what little the instrument panel is visible. Its like you are sit right up against the instrument panel, or a padlock view perspective.. Edited Thursday at 06:09 PM by DP Spaz 1
Qcumber Posted Thursday at 06:13 PM Posted Thursday at 06:13 PM It looks good in VR for me too. Slice313 Posted Thursday at 06:22 PM Posted Thursday at 06:22 PM The seat was designed to be this high to provide a clear view during carrier landings. 1
Qcumber Posted Thursday at 06:56 PM Posted Thursday at 06:56 PM Yes. I think they raised the height of the seat about 6 inches during early carrier tests. Along with other mods such as wiring the top engine cowling flaps down to aid visibility. skywalker22 Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM To change the camera: hold right shift+ right control and num pads (2 down, 8 up, 4 left, 6 right), 5 is for recenter. To save that view, press right alt+0 on numpad. For zoom in press right shift+right contol and - (to zoom out) or * to zoom in. 2

I just tested this, 100% accurate!.. was able to zoom out a bit more and save the view... now the FOV in 2D is perfect! Thanks for the info, certainly other will want it as well. -Rudel- Posted Friday at 10:00 AM Posted Friday at 10:00 AM The FOV was actually larger before closed open beta. We were told to adjust the view so the pilot body's neck area could not be easily seen. 1 https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
RazorbackNL Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago FOV and eyepoint (moving the cockpit camera) are two different things. Currently the max FOV is set at 110. We can't go any further than that. Would like to be able to go to 120. Moving the camera around would be used to fine tune the eyepoint in relation with the pilot body. FOV needs to be fixed here. 1 Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 4,5Ghz | 128Gb DDR4 3200Mhz | beQuiet!
