Stevecat Posted July 12 Posted July 12 New to DCS so sorry if this topic has been beat to death. Got the F4U and the K4 Warbirds. I really don't want to play them anymore because the Fish Eye camera views suck and it doesn't look like there's any real way to fix it without learning to code. Hate to go negative right away but this should be pretty easy to resolve, no? If the lowly IL-2 can handle pilot views to scale, shouldn't DCS?

Then hold down the RCtrl + RShft keys, and zoom in and out with the Num/and Num*, or Num- keys depending on your keyboard layout. To go up/down/sideways use Num2, Num4, Num5 and Num8. When you're satisfied, you can save with RAlt + Num0.Cheers! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1
Tom Kazansky Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) I remember the days I had played DCS in 2D and I had to press numpad 5 each time I started a mission to get rid of the initial zoomed out view. Later I learned to adjust the view like @MAXsenna described above but I still had to press numpad 5 to get to this saved view from the initial zoomed out view at mission start. Don't know if this is still relevant. edit: IIRC there is an additional keybind that resets the zoom in DCS. I can't remember whether I had to press that once, too. Just give it a try. (I will when I'm back at my PC) Edited July 12 by Tom Kazansky 1

Snap View Saving needs to be enabled for this to work. 2 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

Stevecat Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 he4y guys thanks for the help and replies. Again I don't want to be a weenie on my first post. I don't have head tracking set up here yet. I used it for IL-2 with no fisheye problems there. But actually I went back to the normal keypad views. I know numpad 5 and Enter and returning to the normal view. Just not used to the fisheye when using the zoom slider. Hopefully it can be improved at least to the level of IL-2.
SharpeXB Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Yeah I don’t know why DCS has that distorted wide view. If you’re using an axis for the command you can set a limit with the saturation in the response menu. 2 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5

Opposed to a "scaling" approach operating more like a picture zoom in a photo-app e.g. Wether this is a good approach or not I'm not judging. When staying in "reasonable" limits, the problem with the distortion is bearable imho. Part of the problem is that some default views are unrealisticly far zoomed out. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

I don’t see what the difference between that and what any other game or sim does with its FOV. No other game I know of has such a wide limit, they usually have this set to some reasonable value. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
