upyr1 Posted Saturday at 09:52 PM Posted Saturday at 09:52 PM When building missions with the Higgins boats it would be nice to have some some way to toggle good landing beaches 2
Kang Posted Saturday at 10:38 PM Posted Saturday at 10:38 PM Sounds interesting. What actually are the requirements for the Higgins boats in DCS? Is this mostly about having a decently flat beach? 1
Silver_Dragon Posted Sunday at 10:54 AM Posted Sunday at 10:54 AM None map has modeler to get a landing funtionality, on fact, none ship can aproach to a beach or a pier (missing all of them). Not bad if ED implement someonte to make realistic landing capable and ED and 3rd parties modeling properly the beachs to mission capables. 1 For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF
Silver_Dragon Posted Sunday at 08:41 PM Posted Sunday at 08:41 PM If we were to be realistic, this would be out of scale. https://novielliboats.com/landing-craft-beach-landing-techniques/?srsltid=AfmBOopBTrkXAppoeQ6iMLoAlsQK4nXijwbVj7_gvaNHDznYniBzK5jT The problem is understanding why any DCS World vessel immediately stops when it reaches a certain distance from the coast. Because it doesn't maneuver to avoid a problem (and yes, here we could debate why 3D modelers don't use bathymetry software and add it to DCS World maps when, "theoretically," based on the videos ED has shown us, it can). - What causes landing craft to stop? - What prevents a ship from docking on a beach? Is it a script, and how can it be modified to avoid that wall? - How can ED improve this functionality? That would be fine if we had ropes , and troops that could climb things, but until that day comes. Also natural obstacles that are modeled in DCS would need to be factored in. I think it would be nice to have both. Either have AI direct you to a landing beach , the marker, and then if you are using that they can climb 1
