It’s not the hard landing. There is chatter in the forums for all the carrier aircraft causing a CTD when catching a wire with the hook on the various carriers. I’m hearing reports that calling in your inbound with ATC commands is a fix for now, but I haven’t tested it yet. 2 My DCS Missions: Band of Buds series | The End of the T-55 Era | Normandy PvP | Host of the Formation Flight Challenge server Supercarrier Reference Kneeboards IRL: Private Pilot, UAS Test Pilot, Aircraft Designer, and... eh hem... Scotch75 Posted Saturday at 02:33 AM Posted Saturday at 02:33 AM Ok, I think I can attribute this CTD to not using comms to contact the CV inbound. I just tested the Dogfight Instant Action in Marianas WW2 map. I did a no-comms arrival with immediate CTD on the trap. Previously, I had flown this mission several times, and was able to trap ok when using the usual check-in procedure on comms.Harsh sin-bin for not using comms .Cheers!Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk 1 W10 Home 64Bit, Intel Skylake I5 6600K 3.50GHz, ASUS ROG Stryx Z270F MoBo, 64GB G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4 3200 RAM, Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 SSD (OS), Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD, 2TB Seagate SDHD, 2TB WD Green HDD, Gigabyte 3060 12GB VRAM
primus_TR Posted Saturday at 09:56 AM Posted Saturday at 09:56 AM (edited) With the Corsair, I had had landing clearance (the stock instant action carrier landing scenario); with the F14, I always contact the carrier for landing clearance. But strangely enough, last night I tried an ACL approach and this time DCS did not crash. So, this is one weird bug for sure. Edited Saturday at 09:57 AM by primus_TR
450Devil Posted Saturday at 01:09 PM Posted Saturday at 01:09 PM In MP CTD now happens whenever comms is not employed when landing on a carrier. Just tried the Corsair on DCSNZA MP server and the F18 on another MP server. Both time my system CTD when I trapped. Suspect it is a ED issue not one limited to F4U.
Heimz Posted Saturday at 10:16 PM Posted Saturday at 10:16 PM Can confirm I have an issue with DCS crashing with both F4U and F-18 when landing without comm's. Happens on MP servers and Instant Action carrier landings.
primus_TR Posted Sunday at 09:59 AM Posted Sunday at 09:59 AM I did more tests with the F4U and the F14, and based on my observations, I can confirm that a carrier trap will not cause a crash, only if an inbound contact has been made beforehand (as so previously reported by @Scotch75 and others).
Shibbyland Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I also have this bug. I've got performance issues with the F4u after latest update too. Very choppy particularly in flyby view. No issues with other modules, I've got a pretty decent system too.
