Brake Problems

After a successful landing and rolling down the strip, I`m afraid to use the wheelbrakes. Even a soft touch ends up nose down on the ground. Has anybody a solution so I can stop smooth ?

Are you using an axis for your brakes or using a digital input like a button?

Set them as Slider instead of axis. Also keeping the stick in your lap to force the tail wheel on the ground does help, but you always need to be gentle with wheel brakes.

As Raven stated, set it to be a slider instead of axis in the tuning window. It'll take some getting used to since you don't really 'feel' anything like you would in an actual airplane. But, just be gentle and increase input as you get slower.

A slider or a rotary are both axis.

I usually roll 1/2 to 3/4 of the runway length with the tail wheel down and elevator stick fully back in my lap before touching the wheel brakes.  Your maintenance crew will thank you as well

Towards the end of the roll, I hold maybe 25% brakes and that seems to work well.  Let the ground friction do as much work as possible before going to the brakes.  Taildraggers don’t do well with hard braking.  Everyone has their own technique.  Find what works best for you

Check the little box next to 'Slider' as well.

That can help with axis confusion. Sometimes an axis might freak out or something if it's being used with a bias in a singular direction (Like a brake lever or throttle), so it's usually a good idea to check that box.

This works well on my Thrustmaster pedals.

Reduces the effect of the initial pedal movement, so now it needs a lot more pedal movement if you really want to stick the Corsair on its nose.
