First of all, I think it's a cool bit of immersion that in VR you can actually stand up in the cockpit. I did it last night after landing aboard the carrier to watch the other planes come in, and I could almost FEEL my hand on the canopy frame for balance. Or being able to lean around the windscreen when the canopy is open (especially with how the sound of the engine/propeller and wind changes).

The problem is, the pilot's head view doesn't appear to be getting properly restricted when the canopy is CLOSED. It's possible to put your head through it if you lean far enough to the side (I haven't checked yet to see if you can still "stand").

Hi,

the issue is a dcs core one and reported but unfortunately restricting head movement in vr can be jarring for some users and create nausea, so we are still considering options. A fade effect may be the best option, however currently it is low priority.

thank you

I mean that can happen if you whack your head against the glass on the inside of the canopy. 😁

LOL. As long as it is not same solution as in Il2 where the whole cockpit moves when you hit the limits. Personally I learn the limits of head movement available so I don’t end up with my head outside of the cockpit. Takes a while but even this bull headed type learns!

For me personally I think it would be ok to keep as is, but there are concerns about cheating in MP which also have to be considered. I will nudge the team on it.

All planes are like this.  Restricting the movement would become very nauseating once the movement in VR doesn’t match IRL.  I like realism, so when I lean too far over by mistake, I simply come back a little.  Never considered the side of it being used as a cheat in MP (I don’t really do any PVP) so I totally understand that now.  Hopefully nothing changes, but if it does, I like the idea of a fade, kinda like a G blackout maybe? That would also help simulate your pilot blacking out from being afraid of heights 😉

Any such head restriction must be an option so the players can choose to fly without it. If servers have issues with cheating then they can enable or disable as they please.
