Hello!

I managed to resurrect my 11 year old ED account and found my modules to be there, got some new one's and everything was dandy, until...

I have searched far and wide for a .pr0 or an in-game profile for a Logitech X56 HOTAS (and Saitek Pro flight pedals), for the FC2024 planes, but no cigar.

I just got the FC2024, and thought it would be a better starting point, to get back into the game after a long time, instead of my full fidelity models (A-10C, A-10CII, Mi-8, and Black Shark 2 & 3).

I read that the X56 is considered a "good mid range option" for DCS, so if some more experienced pilot would help me (and all the other people on the web looking for the same thing) to get flying, I would be super grateful.

It's daunting, to say the least, to try to figure out what to map and where, not having the slightest clue about what is needed, and so on.

I know the FC2024 planes are not full fidelity, but that is just salt in the wounds, trying to figure out what is necessary to get up and in the air, with the least hassle, has proven a task beyond my capabilities.

Anyway, if there is someone kind enough, and has the time to put togeher a profile/guide for this, it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Happy landings!

Could I please suggest using Google?
A search along the lines of DCS FC3 x56 would probably work.

At first I thought you were just being salty and pointing out the obvious, but the matter of the fact is, I had been searching for "dcs FC2024 x56", "dcs flaming cliffs x56" etc to no avail, but when tried "dcs fc3 x56", DING! I got some results.

So, whatever your motive was, thank you very much, that did the trick!

As a general rule of thumb, when not knowing what to bind (I agree it can be daunting), I’d recommend to take things slow and one step at a time.

You said you’ve been away for a while, so it will undoubtedly take some getting used to, right?

So what are you going to do first to get the feel of the aircraft (or DCS in general) again?

I doubt you’re going to jump into a study-level campaign by for example Reflected, right?

More than likely you’re going to do some free flights, some takeoffs and landings, …

What do you need for that? Not a lot: flaps up/down, gear up/down, air brake in/out - that’s pretty much it. So start from there, and slowly add binds when applicable for the situations you’re finding yourself in.

Happy flying!

Exactly what Raven wrote.

Binding Controls is pretty easy in DCS (compared to the frickin' awful MSFS crap at least). Just start with the basic axis controls for pitch/roll, pedals and throttle.
And then the secondary flight controls as Raven mentioned. Maybe add Master Arm, Trigger and Pickle button....

Then when you are flying and want to do something, just pause, go into the controls setup and find the function you want to use.

Take it one step at a time.

In addition to what others have said, many of the key commands you map will be the same for multiple aircraft. So I’d suggest mapping the common key commands to the identical control on the stick and throttle. The exception will be the fine tuning of the various axes.
