reported After last update (Mig29A) game unable to start, black screen after saving options.

Hello,

after recent update, game is unable to load any mission, game just keep on 0 loading forever. Also, after saving any optioncs / keybinds game turn black screen. Log attached.

Reproduce: Start game, select fast mission - Mig29A - Takeoff

PC: Ryzen 7 9800x3d, 64gb ram, m2 ssd, rtx 5080

*No mods, slow repair + cleanup used (didn't help)

hello. change your dcs  shortcut to run from the BIN folder. not BIn-MT. doubt it will help but who knows

if that does not fix it, rename the folder c:/users/wexle/saved games/dcs/ to c:/users/wexle/saved games/dcs.bak/ and retry. a new vanilla folder will be created. if game starts, then you can get control bindings back. maybe some corruption is that folder.

Common error in the log being experienced by other users as well. Renaming Saved Games\DCS to Saved Games\DCS.bak as mentioned above will achieve the same result as just renaming Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor to MissionEditor.old which is the current workaround for this error.

@Wexler Can you please attach your current `Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor\news.lua` file to this ticket. If you have already renamed Saved Games\DCS or MissionEditor then grab the news.lua file from that backup and attach here. Needing to get more copies of the bad news.lua file causing issues from people.

Worked like a charm. Although I firstly tried renaming the missioneditor, i backwardly tested if deleting just news.lua would be enough. It was enough.

I reported this in the ED Discord as well. Latest update is that they’ve replicated the issue, it’s been reported, and they’ll be looking into it.

I hope is pretty much obvious when i quoted his replies and clarified which solution from the 2 posts and three ideas was actually enough.  Also inserted the broken file. Ofcourse all credit belongs to him  I will edit and specifically credit him

I’ll clarify: when people post anywhere, and others can see a high counter of “community answers” underneath their name, that indicates that person is either helpful, knowledgeable, or both.

Look at it as a ‘reputation’ system, that’s visible to everyone regardless of where on these forums they post something
