I fly solo and everything is fine on all the maps, but sometimes I notice that during flight,

the image freezes and there's no sound for several minutes.
I sometimes have to press (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) for the game to start working again, and then I realize that my virtual memory has changed; it's gone from 32768 to approximately 3768.

So I have to change the settings again and set it back to 32768.
Has anyone else had this problem, or is it just me?
What could be causing this?
Thanks for helping me find a solution.
Happy flying!

hello,

sounds like the pagefile is still windows managed. ensure your settings look like this

Thanks for your reply, silverdevil.

I have exactly the same thing as the image you showed me, but I just thought of something!
My saved game partition is on C:.
But my DCS is on D:, which apparently doesn't have a cache since it says "none".
Could that be the problem?

So, I think I've found the cause of the freezes during my flights, in addition to the freezes that sometimes lasted several minutes.

I noticed that when I touched the volume knob on the new little keyboard I just bought, the game froze and restarted 9 times out of 10. So I unplugged it, and there were no more freezes all day.
Tomorrow, I'll try to see if it was the keyboard itself or the USB port it was plugged into, because it's late tonight where I live.
I'll come back and give an update to let you know if that was indeed the problem and if it can help someone else. Happy flying!

No, system doesn't need page file on every disk. Just create a fixed size one on the fastest disk.

Hello Draconus, thank you for your reply.
I'm learning a lot about computers this way.
Thanks again and have a good flight.☺️

Keep in mind, that it's not a general advice. Windows usually does fine managing virtual memory on its own however setting 32GB (it's not about the magical particular size, can be also 29.877 or 33.001, it's the size just big enough) page file used to fix many crashes due to out of memory problems in DCS. It was once posted by ED dev, while the other adviced against it, so... as always best to try if it works for you 🙂

Thanks Draconus, I'll try it out.

Just one last question if you don't mind!

I changed my motherboard; the new one is an MSI 760b Gaming Plus.
When I put my two RAM sticks back in (32 x 2 = 64 GB), the computer wouldn't start. The little orange light that indicates a memory problem stayed on.

And I noticed that it only accepted one stick (either one or the other, since they're both good), but not both, hence my question!
Can I put a 64 GB stick in one slot (my motherboard has four slots for a maximum of 128 GB)? That would be better than a 32 GB one.

FYI: I haven't found the answer online.
Thanks in advance.🤔

Yes, I placed them in slots A2 first and B2 second, as indicated in the MSI

Then the sticks may be not compatible or otherwise can't work in dual channel mode, maybe even faulty, idk. Is your BIOS firmware updated? Can you visit nearest PC service?

are you able to take the two DIMs out and get clear pictures of the labels. i agree with @draconus. possibly the two DIMMs are not compatible with each other together.
