Agreed. Let's hope they have it sorted for the WH. In the meantime I'll have to make do with crappy pots.

They "sorted it out" for the HW (literally). No more pots - gone. No more gimbals - gone.

The HW uses Hall sensors and a helical spring/ball joint. The resolution is 65K too... !

Well, they still can blew it. Just give them two moving parts. There are two moving parts in a ball joint, so the risk is still at ~80%

At least from an engineering viewpoint, the less moving parts, the less likelyhood that anything is going to fail. In that respect, they did good. It remains to be seen how sturdy this thing really is, but looking at the sensors, i don't see a way how they could degrade.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

I'm itching to reply to that too but I'll hold it for now. I'll mock them sometime later :devil_2: They've sooo earned it :smilewink:

My throttle pot is gone and it took me 4 hours to put the case back together aligning those bloody rings that move over the throttle plastic cheap bit inside.

No way I'd mod a Cougar because I'm poor and I'm not an electronics wizz or handyman.

Made a huuuuge mistake buying it.

Should've got the CH Products but now it's too late.

Just sit here and mope about lol.

Thrustmasters customer service is awful too.

My 2 dollar skipping rope which I use to get fit and get happier is worth more than the 500 dollar Cougar.

THe Cougar killed my simming fun dead.

Was playing open falcon 3 years ago getting trained, having loads of fun(hi Naldo and all the great people there),starting to understand it and I thought getting the Cougar would be the logical thing.

Got it,didn't work, put 500 readies on it which I didn't really have and was devastated.

So much that I gave up simming completely.

I couldn't afford to get another hotas and my Saitek x-45 was on it's last legs even though that hotas gave me years of enjoyment.

They don't use pots in the WH. The design looks pretty solid, but looks can be deceiving.

Looks deceived me.

Ch Fighterstick didn't look as cool so like the fool I got the cool one that doesn't work.

I was mocking the pots selection :sly:

Your current state? If you can afford a big mac set with fries, coke and icecream, you can also afford potentiometers that will be far better than the original Cougar pots. Yes, Thrustmaster suck that much.

So true.

There are no boasting rights owning a Cougar.

I own one and want to dig a hole so noone knows I bought one.

The hype all over forums was unbelievable prerelease and didn't match the product I'm afraid but that's advertising for yer.

$4 for the Gimbals? No wonder its so crap... really, if you can afford NXT and Hall Sensors are the way to go... I did mine few years back and it was well worth it. Recently I made the DIY Hall Sensor for the throttle as well and it is also lot better now.

THen worry about the other stuff giving out on you?

No thanks.

Rather piss on my Cougar ,throw it down a hill and order the CH stuff before that.

I think I've said it all already :music_whistling:

I'm glad that more people will be aware of unmodded/new Cougar quality and also much more careful when reading bombastic 'facts' on any manufacturer's marketing leaflets and articles. People need to know the facts and the facts need to be called as they are. Those who so eagerly write excuses letters on forums on behalf of manufacturer have to know, what we think about them. If they are not paid for this... well, that's even worse.

There's ALWAYS haters.......:music_whistling:

Testament to a Superior product......Cannot 'afford' to get the best so we'll just bash it instead. Don't like a product.....cool......I respect your decision. It's not everybody's cup of tea. Just move on and get on with it. Nobody's forcing it on you!

How many Cougar owners go around bashing the Franken-Potato? Not much, if any. Wonder why that is?

What do you mean Viper?

I own a Cougar but can't afford to fix it.

I put everything om it and it failed me.

Stock Cougar-rubbish.

I'm not a hater.

I own 2 Oriental cats and love 70's prog rock.

It's products that you get that you think are amazing and when you get them they are substandard like the Cougar.

I love a beer and some jazz or prog.

I'm no hater only when you mention the C word.

Apologies to the furry version which I love(ummm.errrrr.....the Wild cat I meant)

I've seen more than enough people that fell victim to insufficient "bashing" of Cougar's disadvantages. Now how does that make your comment look like? :music_whistling:

The only people that rave about em are people who have spent 500 bucks FIXING them.

Enlightened?

I knew when I bought the Cougar of the problems associated with the stock product. How did I know this?

I opened my eyes and read it!

It's not as if there has not been more than enough complaints about it through the years.......and this thread is testament to that fact. So forewarned, I purchased the product in any event and modded it to my satisfaction, but that's besides the point isn't it?

#1 - If you are one of the disheartened that bought the Cougar stock at release, get over it already. It's been 8 years! Move on.....

#2 - If you bought it subsequent thereto, what's the reason for not heeding the complaints and buying anyhow? To now rant and moan......not cricket. Akin to closing the stable door when the horse has bolted. Pay attention to the peer reviews next time.

#3 - If you are not a Cougar owner then back off the rants: Clearly no personal interest in the matter and obviously only instigating further argument.

It's all been said before ;)

HAHA sticky, you could've spent 500 fixing the Cougar or spend a couple of hundred getting the Warthog which in turn is in effect a fix for the Cougar.

Good luck with the Wart.

OK.

Enough from me about this subject.

Maybe I will be back when my acquired elite pedals are crapping out on me afte a week.

Some people get a little pissed off when they spend hundreds of dollars on something that still isn't fixed after......8 years you say. I knew when I bought my cougar the problems it had/have. I didn't mind that, cause I love the F-16 HOTAS. I just want to get mine working so I can complain about it being a stock cougar :D
