Kilo_60 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Everytime I land on a Frigate Heli Pad my Heli immediately starts sliding off into the water (to the right and back). Is this an issue with landing on Frigates in this game and if so is there any way to "STICK" these landings and stay put?

Kilo_60 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Wheel brakes? Have no idea if it's enough though... Nope, Wheel Brakes doesn't help at all unfortunately. :( I keep sliding right off the deck after making a spot landing in the "Courier" Mission.

btaft Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I have been flying this mission quite a bit lately to improve my handling skills. Im not certain it is a bug....... Two things to consider is that if you landed with any sort of trim then this needs to be cancelled. Also if you landed while having auto-hover engaged then the helo might try to seek the initial hover point using its control authority. So it is good to cancel auto hover and trim upon touch down. Also ships are typically pitched up from stern to bow, so the helo deck would be as well. Wheel brakes are needed to keep it in place. When I cancel the trim and auto-hover and engage brakes I have no problem keeping the helo on deck.

HitchHikingFlatlander Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I thought the patch addressed the carrier only (just going from bad memory of the changelog). http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
VS461 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Hi, I just made a quick mission with myself and Peter the Great on a 30 kph run (I have the 1.0.1 patch). I managed to land on her flight deck and nothing sliding off stuff occured, with or without wheel brakes. The helo was trimmed to land (I mainly use AP in Flight Director mode, and nothing autohover on landings). OK, a very minor backsliding happened but nothing I couldn't handle with the brakes or the stick; I turned engines to idle to be sure. The only bug I found is my gears touched the deck about a foot below the surface... Cheers! За всю историю никто и никогда не сумел завоевать Афганистан. Hикто и никогда
Kilo_60 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) I've tried trimming after landing but your heli will only slide in one predetermined direction each and every single time (to the right and slightly back). Therefore I don't believe it's a trim issue as you would slide in multiple directions, each time you land, depending on your trim. I tired trimming after touchdown, canceled AH and applied wheelbrakes/parkingbrakes but it still happens albet very slowly. I'm dead on when landing on Helipads in FARPS (never slide nor roll) and always retrim, cancel AH and apply wheelbrakes and parking brakes but there is definately a problem with the Frigates. Also with the engines/rotors completely OFF and STOPPED and parkingbrakes ON why does the Heli always slowly slide to the right and rearward eventually falling right off the ship? Boulund Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) I just tried it yesterday evening and I must say it's nothing complicated at all? Just land, trim her 'til she's standing still and apply the weel brakes. You'll sit steady as if you're built onto the ship. =) edit: might mention I played the courier mission... 26-J39 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) I had the problem when u land on a ship the KA50 would slip sideways eventually falling of the ship, since the patch it's better but there is still a problem... You can land, shut down, wheel brakes etc but the heli will slowly move forwards. There's also problems with the train landings... not happy  I have a TRK showing the train landing probs on this page: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44434&highlight=train+landings **Edit** - Using the Downloaded ENG Version.
