i would like to run black shark at (2x) 1680x1050 top and bottom...

im at a loss..

 

im unable to find straight-forward information on setting up multi monitor configurations in Windows 7.

 

i am trying to set up two 20" displays running 1680x1050 resolution, in a configuration which has one monitor on top, and one below, to achieve a resolution of 1680x2100.

 

black shark and lockon are running great with this setup with Windows XP 64-bit.

 

i would like to try out windows 7, but i want to know if this configuration will work..

 

 

matrox tech support informed me that the th2g does NOT support monitors to be spanned vertically... so there my matrox th2g is useless being that it is unable to achieve 1680x2100 or even 1680x3050..

 

ANY SUGGESTIONS.. i would appreciated it...

The Windows XP OS included support for both Horizontal and Vertical spanning of displays. That support was removed in Windows Vista (and remains removed for Win 7). The only work-arounds that we have had available have been the Matrox TH2Go (and DH2Go) and SoftTH, that I'm aware of. As you say, the Matrox products do not do Vertical spanning, only Horizontal. I don't know about SoftTH (for Vertical spanning), but I'm sure the answer would be in their forums.

 

Of course, things are about to change with ATI's 58xx eyefinity series. That solution will take monitor spanning out of the realm of being OS dependent.

 

In the meantime, maybe you could live with hozontally spanning the two monitors with your Matrox TH2GO and turning the monitors 90 degrees ( 2 x 1050 x 1680 => 2100 x 1680 ). However, that may result in a significant performance hit... (and the bezels may not be where you would prefer...)

You can always chose not to run in full screen which enables you to achieve the same effect as spanning, there are a number of threads on this

i dont have a problem setting up screens and resolutions in Black Shark, its the windows 7 portion that i am having difficulty with...

 

currently i do not have windows 7 installed..

 

i would like to run black shark @ 1680x2100...

can it work only if windows 7 having to show 1 desktop at 1680x2100 on two monitors, or

will it work if i was to have 2 monitors @ 1680x1050 with one as primary and the other extended?

read the thread Win 7/Win Vista have funcionally the same graphics engine (performance changes mostly) I have two monitors one functioning as a primary the second as an extended desktop. The likely difference will be that with 1.0.1 you no longer need the phantom monitor fix.

ok, so in the windows desktop, with the second monitor that has the extended desktop... can you orient the extended destop, so that i can either be left of the primary, right of the primary, above the primary or below?

 

CAN THIS BE DONE in windows 7 ???? (i think i was able to do it in vista)

Have you setup your display properties like this pic

 

 

Then setup an options.lua

 

x,y res- 1680 x 2100

 

aspect ratio- 0.8

 

run in windowed mode

there is very little functional difference to the graphics engine between Vista and 7 mostly performance improvments... so yes you can still do this .. said the man running two monitors ... in 7 sucessfully

can some one give me a screen shot of the windows display property with the monitors oriented top and bottom? IN WINDOWS 7

 

im actually trying to achieve 1680x2100 in Lockon...
