Triangle99 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Hi I am now moving on from learning flight and solo fight to using the datalink with wingmen. Have watched the producer's notes numerous times, read manual and many posts but sill a bit confused: Once a wingman has completed his recce and I have the identified targets stored in memory, how do I use them if I want to attack rather than send wingmen to do the job? Is it simply a case of flying towards the targets (using the ABRIS as a visual guide) to get into range or do I create a target point in the PVI to navigate to or is there something even more automated that I can do? Thanks as always Triangle :-) P45 Platinum, Q9550 @ 3.33Ghz, HD6970 w/2gb, X-Fi Titanium PCIE, 4gb RAM, ANTEC 1000watt PSU, Lian Li PC-A71 case, Win7 64bit, CH Throttle and Fighterstick, Saitek Pro Pedals, TrackIR 5 + TrackClip Pro, 3 x Samsung SyncMaster 2443
astrospud Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Hi Triangle. I can't give you a definitive, but what I have done is use the target indicators on the ABRIS to line up my Shkval. What I mean is the Current viewpoint of the Shkval is indicated by a yellow line on the ABRIS. I move to have the end of the indicator over the target Icon, provided by recce. From there, I just set up an attack position at range. Is this similar to what you have been doing? It would be logical to have target markers in HUD as well... 1 Rectum non bustus
Triangle99 Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 G'day from Perth :-) Yes, pretty much what I have been doing. Just wasn't sure if there was a 'better' way to do it. VMFA117_Poko Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks to those stored targets you can press "ВЫХОД" button: DLINK automatic ingress to target. This button activates functionality to automatically point the aircraft in the direction of the assigned data linked target [LSHIFT + Y]. When you activate this button and activate one of the targets when you uncage the shkval its marker frame will go automatically on or near that activated target. To send wingman to attack on datalink targets you have to make an ingress point first. 1
Triangle99 Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Thank you :-) That's awesome news ..... bogusheadbox Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) if you are pointing in the general direction of the target (within schval slew range) here is a handy tip. Cage schval, select target type and number in datalink panel Uncage scvhal and it will automatically slew directly onto target or point targetted lock lase and fire. ;-) As an addon, as said previously. Once you are locked, select auto turn to target - boom you are pointing directly at target whilst locked. Edited September 20, 2009 by bogusheadbox

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Tbag Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Is that procedure anywhere in the manual? Couldn't find it last night "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so." - Douglas Adams
Boberro Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I also didn't find it, but thanks to Poko24 I know how to ;] Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

Tbag Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Thanks Tri, found it on page 11-9 of the extended manual as part of the "Automatic Ingress to Target" procedure. Very useful! "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so." - Douglas Adams
