having spent the last 15 years playing flight sims and thinking i was quite good at it,along came Black Shark.

Its been 3 weeks now since i first climbed into the bird and after many many hours of crashing, rolling, spinning and burning i think i finally have it.

practice really is the key thing here, also reading the many superb posts in these and other forums and watching hours of video and the excellent director notes....i can finally fly the thing, well almost.:music_whistling:

i havent even killed anything yet but i dont care.i can take off, hover, move around and stop:megalol:

im only writing this to those people who were like me,about to quit and uninstall black shark..

its sooo worth the effort and time, but i guess im preaching to the converted.:smilewink:

and just remember when the wife tells you to ' stop playing that bloody game'...just tell her its a fully modulated interactive learning experience....then run for cover.

this has to be the friendliest and most helpful bunch of fellow simmers i have ever met,so thanks to everyone.

I know what you mean. I bought black shark in may and I'm still learning. By just reading the manual and doing what it says is not enough, I have to become one with my bird, I have to make it my best friend to be able to fly this bird as its supposed to be flown but I'm getting there eventually ;)

Welcome and hope you enjoy your new friend that you will spend many hours with :)

Well a game like this isn't going to attract the ADHD teens that love stuff like Counter-strike, thankfully. So it leaves geeks like all of us to enjoy a superb, triple X rated, hard-core flight sim on our own.

Like yourself, I spent the first week with the game just learning to hover taxi, successfully, up & down the taxiways at 5m.

The effort you put in to it, really does make it worth while.

After so many hours of this game it becomes like second nature. I started with the Russian version but have the English version now. When I started I had to call it a night a few times because I was too frustrated to continue. See you in the skies m8.

the campaign and the chopper flying is so boring that I wont spend more time in trying to keep this thing steady and just switched to easy flight model

I think the neat thing about Black Shark is that you can play it on a variety of difficulty levels.

I've had it a while & the true sim proved too hard (plus I wanted to blow stuff up) so I played it on game mode.

I've completed all the missions now without dying & so now I'm scaling back the easy-features (turning the easy-radar range down to 1k and turning off its display, using the shkval to target etc)

Next will be getting rid of easy-avionics all together and after that will be turning on sim flight mode.

You've got to do what interests you, but the game allows you to build up to becoming a Ka-50 pilot whilst still being fun (eg blowing stuff up)

Well got my first kill and flight that seemed comfortable in simulator mode.. It will probably take me another week to repeat the experience but its worth the journey and I feel like Im learning something...
