ericinexile Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) I am on the verge of returning my G940 because the mini-stick drifts when Directing the Shkval in DCS and recenters in LockOn. Others, but only a couple have complained of the same which leads me to believe that, for most, it works just fine. If that's the case I'll exchange mine for a working unit. But I want to verify before taking that leap. I'd greatly appreciate a reply from anyone who is getting accurate use of the mini-stick in either DCS or LockOn. Sorry for the accidental double post. It seems that delete is no longer an option. Lava Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Did you try recalibrating it? Mine drifts a tiny bit from time to time, since I calibrated it, but a quick tap on it stops the drift. (edit) Actually I end up using the HAT below the mini-stick for SKHVAL most of the time. Edited October 14, 2009 by Lava
-fox- Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Better return it as long as you have the chance to.

Thanks. Yeah I can stop mine as well which works well enough in testing but not in "combat". ericinexile Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 Better return it as long as you have the chance to. Well of course I agree with the logic but the point of this thread is to avoid uneccessary returns. The mini works perfectly in testing with the logitech SDK software. So I think it could be a setup problem. And since I have yet to hear of anyone who is getting flawless use, I'm not sure an exchange is going to solve anything. I like the stick too much to say goodbye forever over this. Anyway, I'm not looking for "do I/don't I" advice. I just want to verify that it's flubbed for all of us or just a few of us. Redbow Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Having the same problem. To me, it looks like its a softwareproblem as i get no tilting when callibrating. Im speculating on it being a io-pr-sec issue. In other words, data not moving fast enough in Black Shark to catch faster stick moving. Like when you let go of it and it pops back into place.
ddahlstrom Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I think mine is working "perfectly". At least I haven't had any issues yet. Here is how I solved my own drift issue. * First, make sure your mini-stick is calibrated. * Leave all the Logitech profile settings for the mini-stick at defaults. * In the BS internal controller config, assign the Shkval horiz & vert axis to the mini-stick. * Go to the Axis Tune panel for the horizontal axis. Push the mini-stick left and right, then center it. If you do this multiple times, you will probably notice that center does not always land in the same place. This is why it drifts. To correct for this, increase the deadzone in the panel until the red dot always lands on the horizontal (deadzone) line when you release it. For me, this put me at a 20% deadzone. * Do the same for the vertical axis. Although I didn't need as much deadzone here, I increased it to 20% also to keep the two axis in balance.

I tried that several times and still got some drift in flight. I think the previous poster has it right, at least in my case that its an issue of time. Quick movements result in considerable drift in X (but not so much in Y). Funny that it doesn't do this in LockOn. ddahlstrom Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hmm. I don't seem to have drift. But regardless, how are you folks managing to hover hold and use the mini-stick to steer the Shkval at the same time? Even if my mini-stick seems to be working technically, I find that that I can't reliably push it around for any length of time without inducing cyclic movements that end up upsetting my hover. Consequently, I find that having the Shkval slew command on the throttle's POV seems easier.
MrReynolds Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Yep, having it on the throttle (on the cougar) is definitely a better idea i reckon!
hreich Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) Heres how i fixed my ministick..Look at the pics for x and y axis for shkval absolute slew (in DCS axis asignement settings - photo 1 and 2). Photo 3 is setup in logitech profiler. Now i have ministick setup for fast moving shkval, and pov1 on throttle for fine adjustment. Photo 4 is my default position of ministick slightly to the right- its probably raw postioin which dcs engine uses, and it makes shkval control very hard without tweaking. Pilotasso Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 You can also set band zones. I got 3. The middle one has nothing (acts like a deadzone). The edges activate the cursor, 20% of area for each. .
