EtherealN Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 IvanK, could you supply a DxDiag output file on your system to see if there's anything in there that can be spotted? Also, does your motherboard have an onboard sound chip? If so, have you tried disabling and/or removing your XiFi card and use the onboard instead to see if the error is the existing soundcard? IvanK Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Win 7 64Bit. On Board sound de activated. I havent tried pulling out the XiFi card ... kinda loath to do that :) Attached both 64Bit DXDIAG and normalDxDiag64.txtDxDiag.txt
EtherealN Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Not seeing anything that causes me to immediately raise my eyebrows. However, you do not necessarily have to physically pull the sound card out of the machine. The objective is to establish whether it (or software related to it) are the cause. It should suffice to disable the card in the hardware manager and either run without sound entirely (preferable, at least once for trying) or with the onboard sound. If the problem then disappears we know that it's somewhere around the sound card that we need to dig. If the problem persists we would need to find something else. One further note though - there was a LOT of peripherals connected there, which I assume is a SimPit. Might be worth disconnecting absolutely everything that is not necessary to launch the application, if the sound thing fails. Basically to eliminate as many things as possible as a potential cause - narrows the field of search. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
IvanK Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Ok thanks for the help I will slowly keep testing as advised. Present test is running in Compatibility mode XP SP3 as Admin. I have no idea if this is the right thing to do but so far no CTD's though its still way to early to tell on this one.
Kuky Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I think ntdll.dll is network related... lately I am aware of many people getting CTD's (including myself) quite often. In LockOn pretty much every server is runnig LRM so I am inclined to think this might me causing it as I don't remember having so many CTD's before... not saying LRM is causing it but I would not rule it out. EtherealN Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) ntdll is the Windows method of giving user applications access to low-level functions - could say it's the part of Windows that mediates between the application and the hardware. So the bothersome part of it is that seeing it means the bug or problem can be pretty much anywhere. Anything that touches any hardware can theoretically cause errors in there. Which, well, means anything since at the very least it'll need the processor and memory. The exception code there narrows it down a bit to something memory related, so it might be a bug in how it handles memory, or there might be something else (even hardware issues) that doesn't manage to handle it's memory properly - including sound (for loading and retrieving sound effects), graphics (textures, models etcetera) and so on. Most of the times where I saw ntdll errors with that exception code when I did a search actually was applications like Winamp. EDIT: The name, "ntdll" has nothing to do with "nt" as in "network". It's basically the fact that we are running Windows NT. (Version 5 for XP, 6 for Vista, 7 for 7.) IvanK Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 An update to the CTD issue I was having. I have not had a single CTD since I did the following: Renamed MSVCRTT.DLL in the main lockon folder (so the only version visible to PC is the one in the system folder) Run Lockon Flaming Cliffs under XP SP3 compatibility mode as Admin. (Right click on the shorcut ...> Properties .....> Compatibility ) (Running Win7 64Bit, Creative XiFi card,Alchemy,Nivida GTX295)

IvanK Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I just did it with Explorer. Right click then rename. Make sure you have enabled the display of file extensions.

ArtMan_NL Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Hi Guys, For me as a n00b this is a beautiful topic. However the mods are hard to find. For example: 10: Install updated weapons for Walmis F-15 Model (modman) I couldn't find this specific mod on the 2 mentioned sites. However I could find Weapons Pack V2.11 but this one is not specific for the F-15? Is it possible to provide some download links. Or ad all these mods to a zipfile and share it as one download? I should really appreciate that if somebody would do that for me :beer: Kind regards, Arthur
