It happened to me several times already. But everytime I thought it was due to low altitude (to close to ground). But this time there is no obvious reason to me. I was just in hover finding another target, focused/zoomed on shkval screen, when suddenly the chopper started to pitch up without limit.

Can play the attached trk. It happens in 13:39.

Any reason for this? Or it is a bug?

Thanks

I did not watch that track because i'm not at home ATM, but usually that happens when the INU loses power (due to the generators going offline). Did your rotor RPM drop below minimum for generator operationat any time?

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

No, rotor RPM is OK. There is nothing else being shut down but autopilot channels. Situation is very simple. I'm hovering (hover mode on) and moving shkval to another target. All of sudden AP channels are off and chopper is falling down. No chance I hit somethig accidentally. In that time I was only manipulating with hat to move the shkval.

Try to check "Emergency Autopilot OFF" button settings. May be you sometimes press this button when try to activate something else?

When I was like begginer in BS KA-50 and tried to switch ON or OFF autopilot channel for altitude (LSHIFT+A) by my mistake I press LALT+A.

In that case all autopilot channels ara reseting.

So I've changed (delete) LALT+A combination from my control settings profile and now no any problems with autopilot channels.

.....Situation is very simple. I'm hovering (hover mode on) and moving shkval to another target....

The moment you hit the Autohover command, the Precise Point on the Ground where you hit the Command becomes Important (Hover Point). Any Deviation at all from the Hover Point needs to be addressed immediately by resetting the Hover Point (Trim).

By watching your track, it is evident that from the moment you activated the Autohover until the Stability Augmentation Channels dropped out, A lot of Deviation took place, be it by Turning to Target, Drifting etc etc.

The Deviation was not addressed at all (No Trim witnessed in Track), which in turn resulted in the Autopilot attempting to correct it within it's Limited Control Authority. Once the Parameters within which the AP could successfully correct the Deviation were Exceeded, it Burst a Blood-Vessel and Gave Up, resulting in your Slightly-Less-Than-Elegant 'Landing'.

My take on proceedings......

Viper, thanks for explaining. I think that's it. So once I'm in hover the trim should be used more often (simply said)?

...yeah the landing was quick :P

Purely from a personal point-of-view, I'd say that once engaged in Combat, don't rely on the Auto-Hover. If things turn Pear-Shaped then it's one less Bother to have. Your Skills too will increase learning to keep the Helo in a Near-Hover without the Aid.

That said - Yeah, you must trim and trim often and then some. Whenever the Helo changes Attitude, Trim. The other Niggly thing with Autohover is that it engages Altitude Hold, but does not automatically disengage it when disengaging Autohover......so if one is not careful you end up fighting the AP there too, thus Compounding the errors and potentially leading to another Trench-Digging exercise :D

:) Well, I am able to hover without Hover mode very well. But as there is option to use this function, why to bother with manual hovering (I thought till now) Disengaging altitude hold channel while in auto hover is my almost routine immediately after engaging autohover.

Seems that good way could be to engage auto hover, wait till the chopper stabilizes itself, trim and then turn off the autohover.

Doggy.. Auto hover only needs to be engaged when your helo is already in a stable hover.... Auto hover will basically only stop the aircraft from deviating from a set point on the ground. If you can hover like a champion you don't really need to activate auto hover unless for previous stated reasons... The heading and altitude AP's work very effectively when used assuming helo is trimmed correct.

Auto hover is quite useful for turn-to-target mode....

Which was the contributing cause of Doggy's Problem to begin with ;)

The only usefuleness that Autohover can possibly have is to Aid in Relieving Oneself out of the Cockpit Door on a Tedious, Laborious and Extremely Long Flight - Sort of a 'Hands-Free Widdle', if one must........Needless to say accomplished with Due Regard to the Prevailing Winds at time of said 'Relieving'.

Apart from that, well, just gets you into trouble......Slowly......:joystick:
