Hi,

i have set up a new system and in the game the rivers are now kind of "pulsating", like the water is radioactive or something :P

i was wondering if theres some ini setting to disable the river flow-animations because i believe the effect comes from the animation+mip mapping.

anyone got an idea ?

thanks.-

Same here.

Especially in dusk or dawn, the texture seems to be flickering betweeen two states. (dark blue and light blue)

I have a Radeon x4870. I think it might be a driver related issue.

In nvidia, some textures flicker a bit, I fix it by setting "negative LOD bias" to "clamp". Dunno if this option is available in Ati drivers.

Have you tried water=0 in the graphics settings file?

Not yet, no.

i will try that lateron. However i would prefer not to degrate the water quality too much since i have a system capable of running high details at good framerates.

Well, it would help pinpointing the cause. :)

not the issue for me.

the issue i am describing only affects the rivers, not the ocean/ocean coastline. they look like the normal rivers, but their texture appears to "pulsate" between a dark and a lighter tone on a high frequency.

if near at a part of a river, that part looks normal (with the animation playing) / must be very near. that is why i thought it might be connected to the mip-mapping.

i will try to water=0 setting tommorow after work to see if this is connected to the glitch.

Try water=1 as well. The options available at the option screen are 2 and 3, if I remember correctly, so water=1 might be a good compromise if changing that setting ends up fixing the problem.

GuntiNDDS, i can see what you mean now, pulsating coastlines and rivers (it also happens with LO:FC coastlines)

I reverted back to 9.10 from 9.12, and the problem went away, give that a try (i hope 10.1 will not have this issue!)

Mustang, you were absolutly correct.

Reverting back to driver version 9.10 "fixes" the issue. Now off course one can only hope this will be fixed in the newer drivers.

Yeah rgrt, i'm glad you've confirmed this ;)

Now, ATi needs to know about this bug, i've already filled out a Catalyst Crew bug report form, the more people who do that the better :)

I can't use any Catalyst version newer than 09.1. If I do I have problems. With 09.1 Cats I can fly all my games and flight sims. I suspect it's my video card Sapphire HD3870 that has some weird problem that will not let me use any new ATI Radeon Cat version.

Damn, neither Catalyst 10.1 (official 8.69) or the 10.1 Beta (8.70) have the fix for FC/DCS :(

I'm staying with 9.10 for the time being, i just hope more people report this issue to ATi so we can have this sorted out.
