Since flaming cliffs 2 will be upgrading to the DCS engine, does this mean modders will be able to mod a clickable cockpit?

Or even ED might give us a clickable cockpit one day?

Potential is not existing. Check out the thread with the 2.0 announcement for list of great features ED is planning. DCS:Fighter will bring a clickable pit to a fighter when it is released in the future.

I'm not sure I would agree with you on that Crunch. With the tools often talked about the community should be able to construct fully 3D clickable cockpits for the aircraft in FC2.0, sure there isn't going to be any ED effort to this (would be waste of resources imo) but it should still be possible. What I mean is that the potential is indeed there...

The time will answer then. Many things in past which haven't been possible, now are buildable.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

In DCS you will find clickable cockpits.

IMHO I doubt FC will go there, the series & codebase is too old.

To have a Clickable C/P you need to make the C/P 3D. the pits in LO are not 3D.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I don't think so!

1. I think they are 3D because thinking of the AlphaJet with new Cockpit.

2. Cockpits are *.lom / *.cmd files -> 3d Models ;)

Only my oppinion, so please correct me if i made a mistake ;)

If I am looking at the right thing that cockpit doesn't look 3D in the same sense that the DCS BS pit is 3D. Your basically a camera in the middle of the cockpit and can look around and zoom in (just like all aircraft in LO) but can't move in the X or Y axis.

I am basing this off a video I just found on google, so let me know if I am wrong.

That is correct DTWD, if you open up any of the cockpits in the editor you will see that it's mostly like a cardboard cut out- if you move the camera in any direction other than those visible to the player, holes appear all over the place.

There is another thread where kegetys has answered:

.... the "mod" on the youtube video is made by me. It is a little project I have been working on a bit for a while now (rendering a custom cockpit). Most of the actual hornet cockpit functionality is missing, wrong or incomplete including most of the mfd pages, almost all of the switches/knobs do nothing, radar, rwr, navigation etc. do not work and so on.

The cockpit is rendered and handled using a D3D hook, basically the original cockpit is hidden and another model is drawn instead. All the switch actions and mfd/hud rendering is done in the lua exports script. It doesn't use anything from Black Shark so that is why the behaviour probably is a bit different in many places. The base cockpit model is made by another guy, it is intended for ArmA 2 which is why the detail level isn't on the typical flight sim level (also my renderer doesn't at least yet handle normal- or specular maps and the FC2 lighting is not very suitable for it), though I have added some more detail in the side panels and some other switches/buttons.

I dont know if it ever will be in any kind of "complete" state, it depends on how much free time I have and how long I have interest to keep working on it. What is possible is also severely limited by what is offered by the exports interface so many systems are very difficult to get to function at all.
