rapid Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Hey guys, has anyone seen When the earth stood still its the 2008 version. Did any of you guys notice that they used Saitek 52 pro's that were extended? They used it to control the drones that were trying to destroy Goth in the park. I was just thinking that Saitek could of taken hold of that idea and added it to their flight range im sure there would be a market for it. Revvin Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Just after I read your post my missus said she'd recorded it to watch after dinner so I looked out for them and sure enough there they were. Were they extended? Can't say I thought much of the film though. CH Products recently made a Reaper Control System and A-10C HOTAS to show to military contractors.

mikoyan Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 There is an x-52 on the Speed Racer on the Mach 5 cockpit... seriously moviemakers need to get creative and create their own controls or use a different joystick.

Revvin Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I will take another look later on today. I just thought they might have been stock X-52's as they still had the springs around the bottom.

walker450 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Don't mean to change the topic too much.... but you should definitely see Avatar in 3D... It really surprised me, and I don't consider myself a sci-fi fan. The movie does feature some aerial battles and depicts flying, which is always a good thing. :) Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod
Revvin Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Yeah I really need to get to the cinema quickly before it goes out, planned to go over Christmas but the flu came to visit our house instead :(
Lucid484 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I wanted to see that movie but my wife dont want to.........dont want to go on my own:( my wife hates the theater so I always go by myslef...cuz all my guys friends think its gay if 2 dudes goto the theater LOL I always see people there alone.....Why do I care if anyone there judges me...not like ill ever see them again in my lifetime! 1 Core i7-930 (2.8 OC to 3.85), ASUS Rampage II Extreme, XFX Radeon 5870, 6 Gigs MUSHKIN DDR3-1600 6-8-6-24, 128 GB Crucial C300 SSD, 500 GB Western 5400rpm Digital Green Drive,ASUS SATA 3 6gbps card.
Chibawang Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Lucid, sounds like your friends have some insecurity issues. I personally enjoy going to the theatre alone. It's far more immersive, to put it in simmer terms. Of course going with friends has it's place, but I'd definately recommend flying solo. I didn't notice an X52 in Avatar though, what scene? It cracked me up to see Predators being piloted with a Saitek product; I wouldn't want my life depending on an X52! Edited January 24, 2010 by Chibawang
Mugenjin Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 spotted an x-52 pro in the newest episode of chuck xD season 3 ep 5.
Revvin Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 So is this a very good bit of marketing by Saitek to get product placement or Hollywood buying them because they are cheap? :)
walker450 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I didn't notice an X52 in Avatar though, what scene? Right when the main character arrives at the base on Pandora, he goes into some sort of command center. There are about a dozen people in chairs with screens and X-52s in front of them... I'm not sure exactly what they are doing with them, I assume they are pilotindrones with them. As for why Hollywood uses then, I think it's because they look futuristic and have "pretty" lights, which most commonfolk love. Even though I own a X-52, I prefer a regular black stick like my old CH fighterstick... but I lost track of that thing years ago... my flying funds wouldn't allow for much more than a X-52 on sale. :) 1 Speedpad for Inputs | My Simpit | Joystick Damper Mod
