Dmut Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 don't bump on this. They will give us update when they will have something. Force_Feedback Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Lol, I want to buy it, and gaypal is not willing :( Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
WhiskeyRomeo Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 It maybe not what you wanted to hear but there is an update posted by Wags in the Sticky section.
Force_Feedback Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Credit Card only, well, that does it for me, I won't get it, and certainly not a CD from some simware store. Why can't ED have both Paypal and verisign, for the people that transfered money to Paypal, just to buy the add-on? Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
169th_DedCat Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I think it is pretty clear from Wags's dialogue that PayPal has made things very difficult for ED. I'm sure if ED could continue to offer us PayPal they would, but it appears they are being forced to abandon that option and accelerate their efforts to produce other payment solutions. It's no use whining... I'm sure ED did what they could to fix the PayPal payment method before abandoning it. MBot Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Oh man, exactly today my money arrived at PayPal and I would be ready to buy :(
Prophet_169th Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Yeah, I dont get the people yelling at ED for this issue. Granted I have had my hot-headed moments, so I cant say much. But honestly, ED seems to have had no control over this one.
Force_Feedback Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Too bad I can't buy it in any other way, as I don't have a CC (and never will be willing to get one). And certainly not a $60 cd from simware. So what options will I get to buy FC? I know verisign also offers direct secured bank transfers, but then I'll need some confirmation that ED will offer it. And, my money arrived today on my Paypal account, that's why I'm so angry. I feel a bit cheated, as now I'll need to pay for the Paypal transfer back to my bank account. aceflier Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Rather simple why paypal doesnt work. To many complaints by paying customers to paypal and they lock your account. They do this to protect you from scammers. Not that ED is scamming anyone its just a safety thing to cover them (paypals) own ass. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Force_Feedback Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 So basically, all they did was letting me wait for 3 days and making me pay 1 euro for the transaction back. Well, appologies are nice, cool, and caring, but they can't change the fact that I've lost money due to them. I also can imagine lots of buyers not having a credit card (in Europe we like to live with as little debts as possible). How can people buy a download version of 1.1 without a credit card now? Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
WhiskeyRomeo Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 .....but they can't change the fact that I've lost money due to them. How did you loose money?
Force_Feedback Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 How did you loose money? By transfering money to Paypal. If you want to get your money back (ie empty your account) then you'll have to pay 1 euro for the reansfer. And since I won't be using Paypal for anything, I'd like to get my money back. By saying that you could pay with Paypal, ED "forced" the people that wanted to buy the add-on and didn't have a CC to make a paypal account, now ED is ditching the Paypal method, many customers will have the pain in the ass of transfering the money back from their paypal account. The damage would have been far less if ED reported this "anomaly" in the Paypal method before making their statement about the termination of agreement with Paypal. (I'm referring to teh fact that you couldn't buy the add-on). This seemed like a temporary Paypal issue (a server update or something), so customers that added funds to their Paypal account through bank transfer were unaware of the fact that ED stopped supporting the Paypal method. Now people like me (who made a PP account just for 1.1) are being screwed. :| Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I warned everyone about Paypal to start with. I attached a credit card, bought the sim then removed the card. That's the only way to keep from being shafted by Paypal. And before you get mad at ED, it's Paypal that pulled a fast one and bailed on ED. Not the other way around. Paypal is evil, period.

Too bad some people don't want to own a credit card (It resembles a STD, first the great pleasure, then the consequences) and don't have any options of buying this piece of software (through a download) without resorting to "alternative ways". WhiskeyRomeo Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Now people like me (who made a PP account just for 1.1) are being screwed. :| You are getting screwed with. When PayPal cancelled my 2nd copy I just transferred the funds back to my account - for free. I'm glad I went ahead and ordered one copy by credit card.
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 I understand about the not owning credit cards. I haven't allowed myself to fall into the abyss. I always pay my balance in full every month. That's just me though, I'm a bit anal about some things. My point was that dealing w/Paypal is more hassle than it's worth. ED stated they'd have Verisign available, and anyone can go to the bank and buy a transfer card that acts like a credit card. You put your money down and you are credited that much on the card. I wasn't trying to slag you in any way, just stating what my solution was for Paypal. As we've seen already, Paypal bailed on ED w/no notice and those of you that wanted to buy the game are disappointed. I'd recommend that you file a dispute w/Paypal, explain that it was them that fuxored the deal w/ED and that you will not allow yourself to pay a finance charge when the details of the transaction were beyond your control. Come back and tell us how PayPal handles that. I wouldn't give those bastards even one Euro if it were me. The only good thing that occurred is that EBay owns PayPal now, and maybe they'll start to act better than they have.
Kevlon Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 this is getting realy stupid.. the thing is that ED should have made SURE that they had a solution if anything like this happened.. and they dont... They've had a long time to plan a online release of the game, and they should have back up plans. We are not "playing" costumers here, we have a right to get pissed of when stuff like this happens. And we have all had our share of disapointments, this is just uncalled for.. Get your act together. sorry for flaming, i've just had enough [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Paypal just pulled out. I've had that happen in business IRL and there's nothing you can do about it. They stated PayPal would be available first, then Verisign approximately a week later. It's PayPal's fault. You cannot force another company to do business w/you Kevlon. You are blaming the wrong people.

That was my point, ED had not prevented Paypal from screwing with us, so basically has screwed us indirectly. And no, I'm not planning on paying even 0.00001 cents to paypal for this dirty trick. experimental_pilot Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 To buy the CD copy it will be $60 US???
Slammin Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 ED didn't prevent Paypal from screwing with you? Not sure what logic is at work here, but you went into an aggreement with Paypal, not ED. I personally do not care for Paypal, but it has come in handy in the past and I have to say that I have not had any problems with their service, but I get a little nervous everytime I use it. You can hardly blame ED that Paypal wants to charge you a buck for taking your money back, nor can you blame ED for Paypal dropping the account. Personally, if a dollar is worth the frustration, go for it, but I know I'd just walk away. One thing I do wonder though and that is if this is yet another case where we screwed ourselves? I mean, why would Paypal drop the account? Looking at this community, it would not surprise me one bit if it was because everyone called Paypal asking for their money back, and probably thining they get a free game out of the deal to boot! And I don't care if it's paypay, gaypal, friendly pal or verisign that handles the money, I just want an option where I can order something without a credit card (or a wallE card) and still download 1.1 for $35 and not a cd for 60.
