Prophet4no1 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 So, I just did a 30 min mission and ran out of fuel befor landing. Before this I did onw here I was in the air over an hour. Both missions had the same fuel and weapons loadout. Why would this happen? Granted in the long one I was flying at pretty high altitude, and I know in fixed wing aircraft that higher alt means better fuel ecconomy, but a 50% differance seems extreme. Is it possible I had a leak some place? I never took ant fire so it should not be from combat damage. Are randome system failures even implamented in this? Thoughts? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Different Missions start you with different amounts of fuel. One mission with and the other without fuel tanks? Just a few ideas. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
zdXu Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Do you forgot to shut down the APU? Edited January 19, 2010 by zdXu
Prophet4no1 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 The breifing said 100% fuel load. And the gauge read the same. As for the APU, Mission started with the chopper fired up already. So, The APU was off. I'm stumped. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CAT_101st Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 hovering will eat up more fule than foward flight. But not that much. A 100% load is 1450Kl of fuel shuld give you 1:20 of flight time or more. I have had battle damage from solders that pearsed my rear fuel tank once. Rest assured - I'm just as Stumped as You. Only time I ever encountered this was due to a Damaged Wing. Fuel-Leak was Visibly Evident though...... Zembla Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Accidentally turned off the crossfeed valve or something? Only turned on one fuel boost pump? Did you check the fuel gauge after the 30 minutes? I'm quite surprised to hear something like this, to say the least. -Z [sigpic][/sigpic] I aaaaaam ... a banana!
ZaltysZ Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 "30 min" does not tell much. Quantity of burnt fuel depends not only on flight time, but on how much you push the engines. Don't rush, cruise instead and you will save lots of fuel. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
