So what are the must haves for DCS:BS? I'm not looking for conversions and really major stuff. Just the little things that really enhance the experiance or are good options to tailor the experiance.

I've got the following mods

- rotor blur

- Arma sound pack

- no head movement default (for track IR)

- ancient runways

- no cloud shadows

Little more on the no head movement and the ancient runways please. Is the no head movement to stop the game from moving and bobbing the camera? Do I need this for trackIR (mine arrives tomorrow)? I'm guessing the ancient runways makes them in that blocky style I've seen in vids of Russian fighters.

I cannot overstate how much I love sharkpit 2.0 with dust and scratches by lee. Migo's shkval mod is awesome also. It just adds so much more immersion into the cockpit, I couldn't go back ... no way.

02. DEC 1808 ENHANCED TERRAIN MOD for BS by Ruggbutt EXE LOF.zip

03. APR 2209 Ancient Airbase Texture v3.0_MODMAN.rar

04. Dragons_BattlefieldFX.zip

06. Visual_Update_2.zip

07. Dragons_Sharkpit V3x.zip

08. allways draw_pilot.rar

09. skill levels modified.rar

10. AI can detect Stinger and Igla.rar

11. Mig-31 chaff and flares.rar

12. SHKVAL+texture+MOD

Default+Head+Movement+Off.zip

FPS+Flare+Tail+by+Olsiv.zip

NoCloudShadows.zip

REMOVE_DIRTY_COCKPIT_FROM_SHARKPIT.txt

Head movement and flare tail are meant to be good for FPS.

I also have some skins, but I find it a pain to change them so I don't use them much.

Plus config file tweaks and third party missions/campaigns to download as well.

Headmovement off is rather a preference as a must have. What it does is keeping your head level with the horizon while in turns. Some pilots do this though I was learned never to do this because you kind of loose the contact with the aircraft.

I can imagine people not having track ir like this movement, but there is not really a reason to have this movement on if you have track ir because if you wish to keep the head level with the horizon, you should use your track ir!

Another good reason to put this off is if you do aerobatics the headmovement gets crazy when you make loops and such.

Ancient runway mod adds grass in the cracks and black tire marks on the runway ends. It makes the runways look more realistic IMO.

I also use the "cockpit mouse and trackIR" fix. This prevents the mouse from controlling your view inside the cockpit - without it the mouse view "fights" the trackIR and you get motion glitches. Very annoying.

Not sure why you need a fix, My mouse never controled in inside view. Just my hat or view buttons. I've done noting and clicking works fine with TrackIR.

Uhh . . because the mouse and TrackIR fought each other for control, kinda like I said. Alot of people use it.

And like I said, mine don't. Never have. The mouse has only moved the cursor, not the camera. So, there must be a setting some place that makes it unnecessary to mod it. Not sure what I did but it's never been an issue.

btw, it is the same thing as hitting Left Win Key+F1 to turn off the head movement. The mod just sets the default to off and is a matter of personal preference.

Try Left Alt + C :) (function added in patch 1.01)

A new cockpit view control mode has been added, which combines the mouse look and mouse click modes.

The following three view modes are cycled through with the key combination [LALT+C]:

1. Standard click mode with no view control

2. Combined mode with view control and clicking enabled

3. Standard view mode with no clicking

That doesn't stop the motion glitches. LALT + C simply cycles thru the three modes, two of which enable view control with the mouse! Basically, when using trackIR, you NEVER want the mouse to control view inside the cockpit or it fights with trackIR. The "cockpit mouse and trackIR fix" mod does that. See

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=774537&postcount=9

Even with the "cockpit mouse and trackIR fix" mod, I still use LAlt + C to get a clickable cockpit with a "+", then LAlt + C (twice) to remove the "+" when I'm done. Using the mod allows you to cycle thru the three modes with view control always disabled. It would be great if the "+" would go away on it's own after say 5 sec of non-use. Then I wouldn't need LALT + C at all, the "+" would automatically appear when I moved the mouse and disappear automatically on it's own.
