With the high level of attention to detail and the amount of work and effort that goes into producing a specialized project like this, how is DCS able to fund such R&D?

Intel I7 975 Extreme 3.33GHz

Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit

12g RAM

GeForce GTX 285 (Driver version 196.21)

1900X1280 Resolution

Flaming Cliffs Version 2.0

Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS

Poppy fields in afghanistan? ED... through their CIA infiltration.

So now you know, but for christ sake don't tell anyone or FC2.0 and A10C will never be released and a wad of junkies will wake up from their nod.

Huh, and I thought ED meant Eagle Dynamics. Guess I was wrong. :music_whistling:

They probably focus mainly on contracts making simulators for militarys; with DCS as an "in-between" project to publicly showcase their capabilities.

DCS may not require as much development resources as you might think, they probably take a lot of the software methods and code they developed for military purposes and quickly implement them into DCS.

Just a guess though, from the perspective of someone in the software development industry. ;)

It would be great if third-parties we're able to make add-on aircraft a la FSX.

That would be nice but how someone would ensure that 3rd parties would keep the same level of quality and accuracy ED does?

Imagine a scenario were you have to fly the Ka-50 with ED's ultra-realistic flight model and abilities while I ride a AH-64 with non-so accurate flight model and abilities(developed from a 3rd party) in the same server! That wouldn't be fair.

Aren't ED working on tools for 3rd party developers to allow this?

So you have been a customer of ED, even before they got into the sim-market ;)?

I used to love her, but I had to kill her

I had to put her, six feet under

And I can still hear her complain

Yep, call me 'walking tripod'... or 'useful towel rack'.

I could go on... and on... i have a million knob jokes (because, deep down, everyone loves a knob joke).

To extend your thoughts way .... the next DCS vehicle could be AC-130U ?

Yea, I'd love that, as long as they made drastic improvements to ground AI, especially infantry AI. Also need to make it so you can splatter infantry units everywhere. YEA!

The soft maybe nearly the same but we civil are much BB on GFX than Mil, so there s probably a huge dev work on this dept.

there s also the fact that Mil arent si NN on physics, and much more on system, so there s probably adjustments, big ones there.

In an integrated program such as this this may spell "huge amount of work and testing."

If i had to bet i would say it ain t easy at all.
